Loadout for Bogue?

I'm wondering which loadout is better for the Bogue? The fighter loadout can be very defensive and being able to dominate the air, but the only downfall is the lack of striking ability. The vice versa can be on the bomber loadout - once encounter the Pepsi, the Clevey, or the fighter loadout, they're done for.

 

So which loadout is best?

Fighters for PvP, bombers for PvE.

 

Fighters are required to obliterate foolish players that believe themselves to be safe without heavily relying on escorts for their bombers.

Meanwhile the dive bombers can easily deal 2-5 k damage per attack to BBs when using manual drop.

Do note though that the UI and controls for CVs are still "lackluster at best", hence quickly changing the drop point for your diver bombers

can became an issue.

last evening I literally ground up an Independence with bomber loadout and bang up a Zuiho hard that I literally "camp" my air squads onto enemy CV position.

 

Our team lose, thanks to the lack of co-op and some [][][] evil that ranting through the chat channel. This loadout is useful for locking up CVs, but useless against other things with guns (I bet I couldn't even scratch the riverine SOC-R with their .50 cal and .30 cal minigun with this loadout)...

I didn't quite get what the english in the first sentence meant, but as for the fighter loadout being useless against ships...

well, I tried to help my team out by sending bombers in and doing some damages to enemy BBs, CA/Ls, and to some extend, even got fighters doing recon. But after awhile the [][][][] confuses me enough until the announcement "Our team depends upon YOU"... I survived the battle with 3000 HP left, but seriously... wish I could understand the [][][]

 

Anyway back to the point, I am a little confused about the reason why sometimes my DB just hovering around the target without actually come in for a strike? Anything wrong? I used automatic DB though...

It's a shame that air defence doesn't pay better XP :(

 

Well, I guess we have to deal with that...

But seriously, WarGaming needs to look at air dominance more...

If they don't, then the amount of ranting about CV OP would be much more skyrocketted...

Makes sense to me. Even if you don't deal huge damage you should be able to neutralise the enemy CVs and then spot for the remainder. And if your team has a 2nd CV with bombers they will be able to take their pick.

 

 Unprotected bombers would be very vulnerable even to a single IJN fighter squadron.

Best is 1 fighter 1 TB all the way to Lexington =)

 

5000 tiny easy to repair damage for a good DB drop vs one shotting the ship with a average TB drop is no contest.

 

If they buff exp for actually teamplaying and shooting down enemy bombers then go for the air superiority but until that time its best to focus on TBs as they earn a ton of xp so you can grind past the crummy lower level US CVs asap.

I wished I played CV before the nerf.....just to experience the OPness of IJN CVs. Every time I see a USN CV, its normally a cat and mouse game. My fighters are no fight (pun intended) against USN fighters, unless they are stock. Or maybe I just suck in CVs.

Well... If I go with bomber loadout then how could I survived the "extra fighter" squad on IJN CV? They'd rape me HARD all the way to any ships, while bombed me constantly :(

Like the last match, just the AA alone is enough to knock my socks off... not to mention being screened by fighters... :(

Those bogue 40MM Bofors pack a punch, I love to lure fighters then use those 40MM Bofors to destroy them.

For Cruisers that get the Defensive fire AA ability they should get 40 exp per plane kill; and when it's on cooldown/for all the other classes should get 30 exp per plane kill. As an e.g. for cruisers shooting at planes with defensive AA on:

40 (exp per plane kill) x 30 (No. Of planes) = 1200 exp.

For a cruiser with defensive AA on cooldown/regular ships:

30 (exp per plane kill) x 30 (No. Of Planes = 900 exp.

Ohh no, that's what it could be to promote fighter loadouts/AA stuff. Otherwise it's just in my imagination.

 

That would be a little bit too easy, seriously...

But let's say that they should given the aircraft value that is x100 EXP and few hundred credits for a TB down, x50 and half for a DB and x30 for a fighter down, by any means...

 

I'm sure the Clear Skies would grant you so much extra...

Played my shiny new Bogue last night with attack load out.

 

My whole strike got jumped and wiped out by two squads of fighters, who were obviously doing a patrol, as I wasn't spotted. Reserve planes taken out a few minutes later. No planes & my ship was good for nothing but being a shell sponge. I just sailed up the middle and into the action. That's where I was actually most useful. I drew the enemy fire off our cruisers long enough for our team to get a leg up and the win.


I think I'll go with the fighter load out from now on. At least you can scout and defend with that. Much less XP but I think the strike package will be waaaaay too much hit & miss (no pun intended :P) for my liking.
