After ~50 battles in an Atlanta Cruiser, in my opinion, she suits better as a tier 6. The reason are:

- Very Low HP for a tier 7 cruiser, I feel bad very time that I take up a tier 7 cruiser slot in matchmaking and having such Low HP (consider average tier 7 CAs have 35000HP, even tier 6 Cleveland have 35000HP too) and I can't stop playing her because I paid a good 9000 Doubloons.

- Extremely Low Shell velocity, High arch trajectory and Short range. These three factors make her kind of less helpful, and out range by most of the opponents in Tier 8 and Tier 9 battle. only 2 roles she can perform are mobile AA and escort BBs / CVs. however, shooting down planes have low XP and credits reward at current patch. most BB will stay at their max range, make her 11km range guns (13km with commander skill) have limit surface targets to engage with. unless I dare to YOLO in close enough to kill their destroyers, which in term I have to braving opponent‘s cruisers, make myself become a vulnerable common target with her poor 27500HP, then I have some reasonable XP and credits rewards for surface targets damage output.

I currently have average 27900 damage output per battle on Atlanta. (30000 average on the Asia server) perhaps this is a rough idea for what she can do at this moment. even my Omaha is doing 46500 average damage and don't forget that is a tier 5.

So Wargaming please consider drop the Atlanta to tier 6.

Her tier 6 sister Cleveland is now doing better in most circumstances.

Regards,

it prob wont happen cuz of her high rate of fire

but all premium ships should have preferential matchmaking and only play no higher than their tiers and lower

we all know that premium ships are always below par ships

high ROF but it is very tricky to aim properly. even land on target still wont do much against her fellow tier.

"premium ships are always below par ships" I know this. just like IS6 and IS3, good thing about IS6 is the preferential MM and they are on same tier with similar HP.

but this is way too much. Cleveland is tier 6, even lower The Atlanta to tier 6, she is still below par in comparison to Cleveland.

It's entirely possible, but WG will have to considerate removing one of her turret and torpedo tubes and rename her Juneau, sub-class of the Atlanta (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juneau-class_cruiser). Also they will have to refund a certain amount of gold for players who bought the ship.

The problem there is not with the Atlanta, its with the Cleveland.  I hate to say it but after the Cleveland you need to almost get to the tier 9 Baltimore before you feel like you have a better ship.  Both the Pepsicola and the New Orleans don't compare to the Cleveland.  The Cleveland is just to good for its tier.  Hell a fully upgraded New Orleans only has as much HP as a Cleveland.....and its a full 2 tiers higher.

For what it is designed to do, the Atlanta fares fine, its just not a front line fighter, its meant to swat down planes and DD's, and in that it performs well.  In 63 battles in mine im running at 32-33k avg damage, but have downed 662 aircraft, almost 11 per game.

I downed 7 planes average per battle. I plan to swap to AA mod to increase range to 7km.  I have nothing to do beside AA :(    Kind of boring.

Do DD Hunting if you dare. It's the Biggest DD nightmare - Doesn't matter it's a USN/IJN DD.

Be Careful that is.

Yep, and usually after DD hunting I have blown up a few turrets and low HP left. its 15 mins before the times up. sailing around and appreciate the view:trollface:
