Latest information - Dev Q&A for WG #Sail2TwitchCon stream

Reposting information from this thread. All emphasis mine.

 

  • Most asked about features are weather and Fleets/Clans
  • Weather will come in the game. Rain is something that happens frequently and will be added
  • Large waves will not be implemented. Not practical for gameplay
  • Bunch of balance changes including IJN Carrier nerf and later tier US DD buff.
  • Several difference reworks are being tried to counter players who run into the edge of the map. Big issue is the targeting system not working properly when ships slide along the line
  • Spotting system for XP will be implemented in the future.
  • System involving tanking damage as well as covering allies in smoke will be worked on for XP
  • Subs are in consideration but no promises.
  • Original WoT name was Tankfield, and warships was an original plan and was considered before tanks.
  • HE is supposed to be low skill ammo, AP high skill.
  • Fire chance and damage will be lowered on HE spam ships
  • Most likely" somewhere in the future there will be a light cruiser/heavy cruiser split
  • Cleveland will be up tiered when split happens to either tier 7 or 8
  • Premium Ammo is very unlikely. Is not "lore friendly"
  • More ship customization. Will appear "1 by 1" over a longer period of time. No specifics.
  • Numbers and information of the armour values and displays will be reworked. Problem before was misinformation,. For example, armour for a BB would be listed as 10 mm, which was not completely wrong but rather didn't display how many layers of armour there was.
  • Trees are coming and making maps more pretty. And uh scale.
  • Devs want to reduce draws. Domination mode with 2 basses. Draws only happen in standard battles.
  • Warspite is the only ship in game that can restore damage from citadels :O
  • Changes to Ocean are coming
  • AP causing floods is something that is being considered and discussed but will not be implemented for now
  • Flooding does not stack
  • Takao will come
  • Italy and France will come eventually
  • Strafe ability of fighters will be able to damage friendly planes
  • Kitakami was removed because it caused more teamkills than enemy kills (lmao)
  • Bombers will be reworked at some point. AP bombs are being looked into

I sense a great tool for griefers with this unless they made it to only damage your own planes.

I like the changes... Can't wait for the light cruiser/heavy cruiser spilt and that's not Kitakami's fault that happens (KTKM is super fun in CBT, Loved her).

 

Warspite can restore damage from citadels?? does anyone know, how that would work? do you think you would just use the Repair HP consumable?

It's the Nicolas, Farragut and the Mahan need a Buff.... Benson, Fletcher and Gearing was decent ships in it's state......

Nah instead of buffing the USN DD guns, we should Nerf the USN 5 inch guns again..... Good Lord.

Wouldn't mind a 155/152 HE nerf though.

No it isn't. There are 2 reasons:

 

- One-Trick-Pony; It will become super boring after a few games.

- It's the first Tier 8 Premium and obviously you know what the newbies will buy first.....

Big issue is the targeting system not working properly when ships slide along the line - In War Thunder, players who drive their tanks to the edge of the map are automatically destroyed if they do not return to the battlefield after a few seconds. This would be a nice punishment for those who abuse the blue line.

  • Subs are in consideration but no promises. - I-400!!
  • Most likely" somewhere in the future there will be a light cruiser/heavy cruiser split - Probably just the name of the branch. Cruiser class will still be the same.
  • Cleveland will be up tiered when split happens to either tier 7 or 8 - Took them long enough.

  • Premium Ammo is very unlikely. Is not "lore friendly" - If only the WoT devs felt the same way.

  • Flooding does not stack - But does module and skill stack? E.g. +20%/+20% secondary armament range?
  • Italy and France will come eventually - Until they do, the same answer will always be "soon".

20%hp per fire is too much, nerfing it down to 10% is reasonable plus usn DD has torps that can cause flooding.

Yes because USN DD torpedo is definitely not a decoration until Tier 8.

 

As if their guns set stuff on fire very often now already. I've recently re-visited the Sims - Literally you set someone on fire like every 50-60 shots if you are good enough to pull of those 11km+ snipe. It's not easy to even hit the target let alone setting someone on fire.

My Sims is still perma-parked. It's currently the Hostel next to my dry-docked Arkansas floating casino.

49 Knots and 9.2km Range - I will test it out about it's Detectability given training room still works by then. *Summits Umidoori*

Except with tanks, there was much development in munition types. For naval shells, nothing really changed until the 1950s and early 60s but even then, the few remaining gun cruiser and battleships were either lobbing HE or AP.
