Wargaming now considering implementing submarines according to a blog from Ritastatus

I wonder if Wargaming developers have played or learnt from NavyField where Submarines were enough to kill off the playerbase, the submarines were given the ability to travel at 20-25 knts submerged and they were not detectable by BB, CL or CA, they only could be detected by DD with Sonarman, also a single volley of torpedoes could even end a BB's life which damage ranged from 20-25k and higher tiers you could be looking at 40k-50k damage  http://ritastatusreport.blogspot.co.nz/2015/08/more-gamescom-q.html

i dont realy see it as a huge problem,

you have to be with in 6-7ks to spot a DD and their torp range exceeds this range,

if its balanced with the time it will be under water( limited time under water) and the amount they can shoot in a salvo.

i can understand the hesitance to implement this change as some don't like change but if its balanced i see no problem

Well if there add the sub then everything must be changed including the underwater camera, the environment, the ship hull I mean those playing submarines will defitnely able to see our Proppler and hull all this they said they may consider but there no officials sstatement on their developer blog.

earlier WG said that there will be no submarines in WoWs but now they are thinking about it

Not sure how "thinking" has become the idea of "implementing"/"doing it" already when the gameplay concept of submarine is not built yet.

Stop giving the community the hype. :P

According to my sources (which are a whole lot more reliable and trustworthy than Rita's sources) in St. Petersburg, this is the most likely scenario resulting in the above statement on Rita's blog :

PR/Marketing rep : "Players are talking about submarines, and how they should be in the game. How should I respond when bloggers and "journalists" ask me about that topic ?"

Junior Developer : "Well, lets think about it for a moment..."

Senior Developer : "Good call, lets think about why we allready omitted them... And how those reasons haven't changed..."

PR/Marketing rep : "OK. I will come back for your answer."

PR/Marketing rep goes off to do what PR/Marketing rep does for a living, promptly forgetting anything the developers said after "Good morning..."

Junior Developer : "Yeah, nothing has changed, so we wont implement subs, right ?"

Senior Developer : "Correct. There, we have thought about it now, can you now get on with finishing the parts that has to be done according to the roadmap before official release ? Thank you!"

PR/Marketing rep gets asked at gamescom : "Will there be submarines in the game ?" and responds : "The developers are thinking about it."

Rita puts it on her blog, and players think its the gospel according to the lord.

And in other news, amount of cattle mutilations are up in Texas.. *sigh*

No submarine please.

If there are subs in the game then who is gonna escort carriers and battleships? Capital ships depend on destroyers for protection against submarines. But as in the game we can see... Destroyers players tend to leave capital ships behind...

This idea is just simply not gonna work.

If, and thats a big IF, WG decides to add subs, you will not see them for several years yet. Tech tress for Russia, Germany and Britain have yet to be finished, I know we are starting to see the German ships, but it will be some time before their tree is finished. After those three have been added, you have other navies that WG tentatively hinted at, such as the Italians. There is talk of splitting the CA/CL line so you have Heavy/Attack and Light cruisers. You may also see that done for Battleships and Aircraft carriers as well.

As to subs in game! How would they implement them? will they be player controlled or AI?

my BEST GUESS is - Player Controlled, Have to travel on top of the water for transits max speed of 15kts, have to dive to make an attack max speed of 5kts, can only make several crash dives to avoid detection and last for 3 minutes (consumable), whilst on top can use the 5' (or what ever is fitted) gun.

As I said in Alpha, and again in CBT, I highly doubt Submarines will be implemented into this game, since the game play does not allow for them.

We should have the Kayak type ship too, 30kt, armed with RPG-7 and AKM, special ability: boarding ships.

Man, there would be alot of Capt. Phillips now...

As a former submarine torpedoman, I'd love the chance to play one in this rich target environment  of a game. However, knowing how all but impossible to balance them for any benefit to the game could never happen. Shame though...I'd love to put full linear spread into the Yamato from a Gato-class boat from 10km!

if its implemented... do we get first dibs on "pin the depth charge on the submarine?"

I'm sure I can fit a fair few Swordfish on the British carriers with ASV Mk. II radar and begin dropping torpedoes. Or outfit the TBDs and SBDs with the same radar set and start the depth charge drops on submarines.

May I ask how does Radar detect a submarines, played lot of Naval Warfare game and I don't see radar detect submarines unless it is surfaced. The only way to detect them is using Sonar to ping their locations.
