need tips for a Furutaka

just got this ship and it seems difficult.


 

got a 45 second traverse rate but what really hurts is it nearly 20 second to load each gun. im thinking it really needs mods but what. is it better to go get the mod that speeds up the traverse speed or get the mod that ups the accuracy.

Speed up traverse rate = More adaptability but increase reloading time

Increase Accuracy = More effective range

get aiming expertise and turret traverse module.

 

engage dd at distance, furutaka slow turret speed can't keep up at short range. and most of the time keep your speed at half and speed and constantly change it to evade torpedo and shell. also try to hide your side while reloading to prevent getting oneshot by BB and higher tier CA.

 

try to stick close to ca with defensive fire to keep cv planes from attacking you (furutaka is a lovely snack for a cv player) and don't go alone because other ship will most likely rekt you.

 

you can use island to cover your self when dropping torps against bb.

You are now a support ship, don't even dream to go too close to enemy ships. Furutaka is the introduction to how IJN cruisers will behave in higher tier. Master Furutaka, and the rest will be pretty much the same style of play.

My honest advice is grind the modules in Co-op battles. Furutaka is fine when you have the range and 20.3cm gun.

It seems like this ship needs a buff.  when upgraded it only 13 KM   same as the kuma which has  a smaller calibre gun

The ship is ok at range (thus turret traverse becomes less of a problem), best use them 8inch guns to hurt cruisers and BB's, only time you ever want to use its torps is at close range ambushes like USN DD's

The turret traverse sucks, yeah it does . 45 secs for a CA is kinda long. So counter the turret traverse with your maneuver, use your ships maneuverability to help point the guns into the enemy. Though beware this will expose your big citadels, so always maneuver back to avoid shots from the enemy. Torps are strictly CQB, Use them only for ambushes . The furutaka is a good ship if played well
