I don`t think that is a good idea.

At first you maybe fun,but you will face a massive noisy every time when game start.

Make them cost gold.  Boom.  People won't spam them then if it costs 30 gold a blow.

I think WG will not add it when in battle.. It's too annoying anyway. Imagine when starting battle is dominated with horn battle sound, even that on battle ready countdown timer :sceptic:

 

 

but, if that added when only at port, I think its ok

could it work but have it controlled by the game? i mean if 2 ships were going to collide it would sound.. been t-boned by so many people lost in their gunsights...... and done it to others ( very ashamed )

Horns would be fine if they were automatic ie. activated on proximity, they could be horns or bells. Say I think 1-1.5kms seems reasonable.

 

Edit* Oh and also have it be a burst, every 10 seconds or so perhaps?
