So I was digging around following links after reading of the HMS Furious and the fact her guns were too big for her, and followed the story around.

 

Seems those massive 18" guns were strapped onto a 1915 Monitor, the HMS General Wolfe!

I did remember reading this in a forum before where she would virtually capsize when she unloaded a salvo.

I don't think she really cared!

It was an all and all approach - lots of armour and 1 big durpy canon!

 

Sound like a KV-2 on water.

Here is a picture of another monitor HMS Roberts, she is only armed with 2x 15in guns.

Monitors were only used for shore bombardment in WWI and WWII
