For me, NEVER ever fire your main guns so that SS can't keep you spotted.
Use secondaries and depth charges ONCE sub have to surface to spot you.
Circle around island to recap bases if you have to

I tried out my new U-190 in Brawls today. Fought every other class at least once (except another Submarine) and lost nearly every match. Maybe I'm just really bad at subs, but they don't seem very well suited to one-on-one brawling or cap contesting.

Destroyer opponent -- They cap, dodge torpedoes, charge me, dodge more torps, and obliterate me easily. That's fine, since that's what Destroyers are supposed to do to Subs.

Cruiser opponent -- They cap, rain airstrikes if I ping, and Hydro me if I try to get close. All while dodging any torps I can throw out. Easy points win for them if I manage to even survive that long.

Battleship opponent -- These ships I figured I'd have the advantage over, but I still lost most of the time. If I sat back and sent homing torps, they capped and won on points (while sending lots of airstrikes my way, of course). The homing torps are not really powerful enough to kill a battleship before the match ends. Unguided torps were a little more successful. Approach at perscope depth, blast the Battleship with the front tubes at point-blank range, go underneath, and then blast them with the rear tubes. This only worked once and required almost perfect aiming and timing (and possibly luck). Battleship secondaries absolutely wreck subs at close range.

Aircraft Carrier opponent -- This was the worst. Crawling across the map at maximum depth to avoid the constant plane-spotting fiesta. Cannot ping (special CV DCP and auto-airstrikes) and any detection within unguided-torp range means auto-airstrikes with secondaries for good measure.

Now I'm sure a good Submarine player would do a lot better than I did, but I think Submarine gameplay relies heavily on the enemy not knowing where you are or when you're about to strike. In a Brawl the enemy always knows roughly where you are and there are no distractions. I wouldn't worry too much about Submarines in Brawls.

Having unlocked Balao, I figured SS is basically support ship that much better when there are allies around (to spot for/support it, etc)

Brawl with SS has just highlights this
