Improvements to island collision mechanics – Closed testing

In the near future, we will begin testing some improvements aimed at solving the occasional issue of ships getting stuck on or near islands.

 

The changes being tested involve updating the collision model of islands to exactly match their shorelines as visible from above water.
This will put a stop to situations in which a ship passing near an island could get stuck in place and lose the ability to properly maneuver, even when there was no apparent visual contact between the ship and the land.

With the changes implemented, ships that come too close to land will “slip” away from it, thereby helping them to continue moving freely.
If, however, a ship crashes bow-first into an island, it will still need to use the reverse gear to break free.

The map “Hotspot” has been updated to test these changes. If successful, we will gradually begin implementing the technique to all maps in the game.

It was when WeeGee started creating the under water feature for submarine when the "getting stuck and can't move" started and messed up the terrain.

I got stuck when passing through between 2 very tiny ilsnds in the west side of Sea of Fortune map.
Can not go forward. Can not reverse.
And that's in a DD.

Yeah but how many premium ships have they introduced???

True.

 

WG is laser focused on monetization with their premium ships (though some premium ships should have been tech tree ships & some premium ships are in the wrong tier because of WG's monetization first policy),
Dooku-yard (Dockyard), Blood Pressure (Battle Pass), Random Bundles, Sequential Bundles, Light House / Auction, Containers / Lootboxes, and the infamous Double-Layer-Gambling (Rukus in the Depot & Sunlit Fair),
while abandoning very important in-game improvements, player QoL changes, bug fixes, and server upgrades.

Gotta milk the players bone dry first before WG start realizing that their game have problems and is in dire need of attention.
And the cherry on top, in WG's weird world, realizing the problem(s) is(are) one thing, doing something to fix the problem(s) is(are) another matter.

Finally.

Hopefully the ‘slip’ mechanic will work as intended.

Sometimes it’s not even getting stuck on underwater obstacles, it’s trying to turn to avoid an island, but end up getting stuck between two points with no room to manoeuvre, can’t go forward because you hit island, can’t go back because you hit an island.

Watch out when ppl start abusing this slip mechanic to avoid incoming shots, and ppl start coming to islands

Remember the ancient blue line abuse. Almost made me quit the game for good.

The current one is better, ppl avoid island altogether. Also normal for ships to be grounded if they came close to a land mass, and forces ppl to have awareness when manouvering near island
