Do you think the United States Navy should have a tech-tree dedicated to light cruisers? I think WG should do this and basically, the USN has enough light cruiser classes for this. And the current Cleveland-class is too powerful for it's tier.

I've done some research on the internet about American cruisers during WWII.
As you know, the Omaha as tier V... And it will lead to:

Cleveland at 8, you'd better see a Cleveland duel with a Baltimore. RoF isn't gonna help much, as Balti's shells are heck powerful. And if the Cleveland got into a match that have a Des Moines . I can't imagine the result. But the Worcester and the St.Louis is interesting

Well, the devs told us more branches might be introduce in the future.

If US is going to introduce new branches, this would be a viable option, ie splitting heavy cruiser and light cruiser.

In reality, the main role of these light cruisers are served as fast escort .

Though HE spam is still effective currently, 6" guns on a Tier X cruiser would lack the punch and range to be useful in ship-to-ship combat. Without torps this ship would effectively be mobile AA, which is really what the ship was designed for.

If it's escort role, I don't think a lot of players will be playing it

well the Cleveland IS a mini Des Moines with that absurd loading time for each turret at 6 seconds right? only difference is the Cleveland gets an additional turret that totals her broadside of twelve guns.

I gotta agree for the light cruisers splitting because its fun to see high tier light and heavy cruisers together. its gonna be fun seeing the Cleveland go on a salvofest with the Agano.

Look at Cleveland's overall armor.

Turrets are hell eazy to be knocked out.

If Cleveland is at tier 8. She would be very easy to be knock out of the match, all she can do is she gotta escort the carriers.

the Cleveland will burn at tier VIII as well but the only high tier she would probably be in should the cruiser split happen will max out at tier VII unless the RUdevs plan to make weird shizz like buffing the hell outta her to match heavy cruisers at that tier although Myoko will rip her apart and Pensacola will outlast her.

hell, Atlanta is a VII light cruiser with an insane amount of 5 inch guns to hail fire an enemy ship with? the Cleveland can probably match her caliber... probably.

We need a very good MM for that and have to nerf a lot of ships ( in my opinion )

that and buffing the light cruisers so they can stand against heavy cruisers and battleships.

my hypo on light cruisers popping out at tier X, especially the USN Worcester since it was the Des Moines' cruiser colleague and both were the last gun cruisers made by the US:

its most likely that the Worcester will take the DM's place in evaporating enemy destroyers and can most likely hold its ground with the top tier IJN CL but both the Senjo (I refuse to call it Zao) and DM will still whack it. 6 inch guns can do much but harm a YUMMAH TOE, Montana, DM and Senjo? unless some strange twist of fate befalls the RUdevs in this hypo/speculation that makes their HE shells highly flammable, light cruisers will probably serve as a more nimble heavy cruiser that can unload very fast. IMHO, this will probably take the Des Moines' unique ability to unload rounds at 10 per minute since most of the light cruisers of each nation can unload as fast or faster but will lack the damage heavy cruisers have.

I still want the thing to go on a salvofest with Ooyodo for the lulz of it.

... if the ever EVER make the Alaska as a prem sheep, I don't care if it shacks up in the bottlesheep tree despite having a unique designation of "large cruiser" (CB) that kinda effectively made it a battlecruiser, I will rage so hard... but will still buy it.

Nah, Worcester better seprate the line with Des Moines

P.S. They should give Alaska as prem sheep
