Warship Choice in Division

I recently noticed that, in a Division, you cannot participate in a battle if you choose an ACC. Previously players were able to choose at least one ACC and another warship (CA, DD, BB) but it seems that WG have changed this. Can anyone give me a plausible reason why this was changed.

I understand that, from WG point of view, that having two ACCs in a Division could change the balance of the game,  however, only being able to choose one ACC and having the other two spots in the Division take up with anything else could also have an affect on the battle.

You probably experienced a known bug with divisions. Change the battle mode to a different one and then change it back. You will be able to enter a battle as long as you don't have more than 1 CV in the division.

Many thanks for clarifying/solving this issue. Your answer did in fact solve the problem and we are now able to battle in a Division with at least one Aircraft Carrier.

So that's what "CV" means, lol, I'm assuming it means "carrier vessel"?

And what does "DD", "BB", and "<insert anything else only WoWS use>" means??

CV - Aircraft Carrier

BB - Battleship

CC/CA/CL - Cruiser Command/Cruiser Attack/Cruiser Light

DD - Destroyer

There are hundreds of combination, but these are the ones currently used in the game

Commonly used type designators

CV - Carrier

CA  or CL - Cruiser Armoured or Cruiser Light (both are in game and the designator is used interchangeably at this stage)

BB - BattleShip

DD - Destroyer

CV - Cruiser Aviation

That how AV and CAV came about as Seaplane (Aviation) Tender and Aviation (Heavy) Cruiser respectively.

Thanks mates! :)

I kinda knew that "BB" represents battleship, and "DD" for destroyer, but I was just wondering why double "B"/"D" when there's only one B/D in battleship/destroyer? lol, just curious :)

Or is it to make some kind of uniformity in acronym usages? (by pair that is)

They repeat the letter for consistency.

The double letter is normally the lead indicator, i.e. DD is a destroyer, however, if say you put guided missiles on to it, it becomes a DDG - Guided Missile Destroyer, or you could have DE, which is a destroyer escort.

So the first letter is the class designator (except for aircraftcarriers) the second and third letters are ship type designators. There are designators for every type of water Bourne vessel, right down to a row boat that services a small Yacht.

CV's actually short for Cruiser, Voler (French verb for "to fly"), considering the original idea for carriers came from a Frenchman, and were built on cruiser-style hulls. The multiple letters are there to differentiate between subtypes within the same class.

For battleships, "B" was formerly used as their full designation, but was changed to "BB" for post-1920 battleships (and to differentiate them from Monitors, which had the hull designation BM). "C" are cruisers, with the following letters denoting what kind of cruiser they are. In the game, we've only got CA for heavy cruisers (modern usage, it came from Cruiser, Armoured), and CL for Cruiser, Light. Destroyers are the letter "D", with "DD" being the main type of destroyers we see in-game (there is also the DE, Destroyer, Escort, basically a smaller, more lightly armed version of a DD).

search for class type indicator DL

Oh, you mean there's no default class indicator in game like in WoT? So, you're telling me about a mod sir?

well, thanks for letting me know! :honoring: that'll be a great aid to know what kind of ship i'm up against, thus, helping me decide what action should I take depending on the ship class I'm using at that very game. It's gonna take some time to memorize the class of a certain ship's name. xD
