I hate it too, but it's consistent with the G3-class battlecruiser design. God alone knows what was going through the designers' heads, but presumably it was to shorten the citadel, which is sort of understandable, but it looks butt ugly and gimps the firing angles.

What those huge things are for (left to right):

• Zara = Thicc armor that gives damage reduction buff on herself
• Chapayev = Thicc cannons that launch super fast HE shells.
• New Jersey = Thicc super heavy shell, typically found on high tier US BBs.
• Formidable = Thicc deck armor that can bounce even Shikishima shells.
• Bismarck = Thicc boba that increase her fleet's morale.
• Saint Louis (not in that picture somehow) = Thicc machinery that propels her through the waves at high speed.

Fun fact, neither of them are the thiccest girls in their respective factions.  Bismarck gets the average size, anything smaller is considered flat. A literal cow is the thiccest one, for now that is.

There is such a thing as "too big" for me. The ones in Max's OP are already at the limit. Still look amazing though, them flotation devices.

Kashino cannot even stand up on her own if she trips over something, because those things are too heavy. Her existence is solely to cater the super degenerates, which is like 1% of the community. Gameplay-wise, she brings nothing but fancy yet useless gimmick. She would be a totally forgettable character had she been "somewhat normal". I mean, even Hipper is more memorable & actually endeared by the community despite her "lack of development" & noisy tsundere behavior.

Not playing AL at all (my gacha game is FE Heroes), but browsing the AL arts shows that the arts/artists really emphasize the size of bust AND thighs. In some cases, it pushes the boundary close to a different tag that I'm not a fan of.

Have to agree that a character's... character makes her memorable, not exclusively her "specs" or designs.

Well... that's what happens when the game's revenue is mostly from those cosmetic skins. AL has the lack of compulsory pay4convenience that WG is heavily reliant on, this collab is the prime evidence of it.

They used to have some semblance of historical reference on the shipgirl designs (Hipper vs Eugen "bow" comparisons), but they decided to ditch it & let the artists go wild at some point. It didn't help much either when the "normal-looking" designs was the reason why AL was labeled as KC ripoff. Since then the shipgirls' riggings are either; not attached to the girl's body (Formidable), or cartoonishly big (FdG), or sometimes both (Parseval).

They indeed push the boundary to the questionable levels. I remember someone said the original designs might be much lewder than what actually pass into the game. Because that's how they can pass the strict censorship placed by the government. They make them to look as extremely lewd as possible, and let the "bureau of censorship" review them. And when they don't pass, they will tone them down to the "acceptable" levels.

This is Trieste (of Trento class CA). Left is what passed on Chinese server, Right is what Japanese & English servers get.

I couldn't find the original, but the dataminers said her dress was more revealing than the JP/EN version. They clearly pulled a reverse psychology on the censorship. AL is just funny on that part. Other popular gacha games have to bend the knee on the censorship (I'm looking at you Mihoyo), but AL plays it like a fiddle.

Sounds like how this game has been going for while some times. WeeGee more or less ran out of historical designs, so they resort to making... Slavic CVs.
