Only intend to keep Prinz Heinrich, Tier 9 and 10 in the KM Battlecruiser tech tree line.
The rest all sell off, don't intend to keep as Port Queens or play again at all, NOT fun and TOO WEAK.

Never sell anything (above T4) because free Steel/Coal every year is free.

I only sell stuff below T5. T5 and up I keep.

I did not always have this attitude however, and I still have not had the funds to buy back Seattle, Buffalo or Alsace.

Actually, I tell a lie. I sold all the Tech Tree CVs I was given as part of the early access packages. I have no interest in playing CV and do not want them cluttering up my port. And I did trade in Saipan back in 2019 and bough a Sharnhorst with the doubloons (no regrets).

But except for those, I do not sell anything T5 and above.

Once you have a ship of tier 5 or higher, you should keep it, leave it in port. For the reason given above: they will earn you snowflakes. And with premium ships you don't like, there is an additional reason to keep them: by keeping them in port you eliminate them from ever dropping again in a supercontainer or the 'Santa containers' you buy. I got a lot of really crappy ships from the 'Santa's Mega Containers' (like the Krasny Krym, Duca D'Aosta) but keeping them increases the chance of a good ship in one of the containers I may buy next year.

no credit crunch, had port slots, why not keeping them .. and to be frank this line might not be the most heavy hitting they are still kind of fun

Not sure why this warrants a thread TBH.

It is essentially a rant thread. OP doesn't like playing the new German BBs.

The tier 5 and 6 do quite well in random battles with all tier 5 and 6 ships.

Unsurprising, as tiers 5 to 6 (and 7 somewhat) are the best balanced tiers in the game providing significantly better gameplay across the board compared to the higher tiers. In fact, I find it hard to figure out if there even is a mid tier ship that I wouldn't like.:cap_hmm:

Couldn't agree more. I always have the most fun playing 5s and 6s especially.

Well there's your mistake: buying containers. So many ships in the game, why keep buying containers in the hopes of getting ships? To each their own I guess.

This, from a former reformed whale who has seen the error of his ways in the past...

Well, you keep hoping that you'll get one of the good ships, and I did get some ships I consider as good. And then there is is acquisitive urge to collect all the ships, even those you are probably not going to play.

Also, some of the good ships can only be acquired through the Christmas event containers.

I find it impossible to appreciate the 'balanced design' of the Pensacola.

Battle involves constant maneuvering. And while maneuvering you (return) fire. But because the turrets are so slow to turn, you have to make a choice between either evading enemy fire or returning fire. You can't do both. This would be bad enough in a battle involving only tier 6 ships, but then that would not agree with WG's sense of what a balanced battle is, so they throw in tier 8 ships. I was just now killed by a Shokaku in a random battle while I played the Pensacola. During the entire battle, I managed to hit enemy ship 38 times with my guns. 38 times in a battle that lasted around 15 minutes. I could have scored 2 kills if the guns stabilized a little faster.

For me, extra slowflakes isn't worth wasting time playing low tier ships I don't even enjoy playing.

I've sold all ships below T7 on all my tech trees, and most of the freely-awarded premiums too (looking at you, Oklahoma! Yahagi! Sirocco!), with exception of just a few T5 and T6 that I really like, or at least have nice permacamo. No regrets.
