WG is selling Tech Tree ships for Doubloons.

In this case:

  • T8 German Soviet Heavy Cruiser Tallinn (Project 83)
  • T9 Permanent Camo (Not Ship) for Riga
  • T10 Permanent Camo (Not Ship) for Petro
  • 7M credits
  • 65k FXP
  • 50 expendable camo
  • Combat Mission (+15% Creedits and  SXP)

The price tag though, :cap_wander:.

But I shouldn't be surprised, since T10 German tech tree Battlecruiser Schlieffen was sold for doubloons via Auction Lighthouse back in update 0.10.9 / October update.

Soviet Captain Dasha for 14 points costs 7,000 dbl 4,550 dbl.

While the same captain with 10 points costs 1,500 dbl.

Kind of overpriced for a 14 point captain. Even at it's "sale price". :Smile_sceptic:

Edit:

It is now being marketed.

Yeah I'm not happy with it...

Sell the camos, I have no issues but the tech tree ship... SIGH.

The EA thing I still don't like but there's a semi-logical reason, they don't want mid-tiers clogged.

I mean at the end of the day it's their game and they can monetise it how they wish but they progressively and incrementally break their own rules...

- We will not sell T9s for money

- We will not sell T10 premiums for money

etc.

If I have time, I'm tempted to jump in to a lot of T8s to see if I can spot Tallinn pay to play noobs. I suspect the numbers of them will be drastically lower than ARP Yamatos.

Just... ... Wow, such a desperate need for every dollar and cent.

I too was surprised to see the Tallinn for sale. I double-checked to see if this is the same Tallinn as the tech tree Tallinn. I wonder if anyone at WG feels any embarrassment over this. They should, they should be deeply embarrassed.

A 14 skill points commander requires 579k XP and a 10 skill points commander requires 183k XP, so the price seems to be justified.

This is not the first time for WG to sell tech tree ships, they just called it early access.

The TLDR version:

DO NOT BUY.

It is essentially a 20k doubloon bundle being sold at 31k then discounted.

Well, they used to sell Pensacola in a bundle long before the US cruiser split happened.

And technically speaking, the early access ships have been exactly the same marketing practice.

I don't understand why people sound so surprised? Is this the first time you have played the game? WG do not care about game "balance", noobs vs seasoned hands. $$$ is the ONLY thing driving the game.

Please understand that, then you will understand why they do what they do.

As they game reduces in popularity they will start selling more and more things to milk the cow dry before she dies.

Now, it's the British's turn.

  • T8 British Heavy Cruiser Albemarle
  • T8 Permanent Camo (Not Ship) for Albemarle
  • T10 Permanent Camo (Not Ship) for Goliath
  • 7.5M credits (0.5M more than the Tallinn Bundle)
  • 90k FXP (25k more FXP than the Tallinn Bundle)
  • 50 expendable camo
  • Combat Mission (+15% Creedits and  SXP)

@S4pp3R

Looks like you are right.

Desperate for every nickle and dime.

Pretty sure this ain't the last they will sell tech trees for dbl at absorbent price.

Also, the Gnome Overlord (Jingles) was right.

WG has to pick up the slack for marketing their product after the LWM fiasco and the CC exodus fiasco.

But knowing WG, they will eff everything up again. Expect another season of WG drama for 2022. :Smile_popcorn:

I really don't like these camos otherwise I would have picked up Devonshire+Surrey pack for a budget price...

Sorry WG, gotta look good AND be a discount for me to even consider it.

The rest of the packs, errrrrghhhhh.

I really don't like this 'buy a tech ship' avenue they've taken.

Call me nitpicking. But there were no British queens at all throughout the First & Second World War. So the bundle's name is literally wrong.

Because cosplaying King Malik wouldn't sell.

well, you can count on WG for more of these similar down the road alright, but as for the Camou, well, while the name is wrong , the camou is indeed historical and actually employed on RN ships of the era , to a specific region , in particular the various Flotillas of the period stationed in East Asia and South East Asia region

They test the waters with different strategies and see what works. But essentially most things they put up for sale I'm pretty sure they do well from. Plenty of whales willing to buy digital pixels.

To be honest, if WG sold tier 10 tech tree ships for 30,000 doubloons, I would probably buy it, if I wanted the ship.

The bling-style camo's for the Devonshire line of cruisers looks so cheap and ugly. Not interested!

For me, If WG is really so desperate, they should sell the American, Japanese, and Wehraboo ones.
Baltimore, Cleveland, Mogami, and Hipper.

Not these paper ship. Especially not the non-existent "Glorious Navy" of theirs. More like "Fictitious Navy".

If this is the case, good god, their marketeering people is sooooo baaaaaaad.
They don't even know their customer and what to sell to their customer. What's the point of the spreadsheet if they can't read it or interpret it properly.:Smile_facepalm:

On the other hand, WG is probably selling these ships is because, not enough players are playing them.
WG is on limited whaling.
They will sell but not as good as the 4 ships mentioned above.

Of course selling high tier ships has their own downside.
If the buyers are veterans then they know the game and what they are getting in to.
If the buyers are noobs, with little battle experience and has not played low tier games, then the team with the most of these inexperienced players are handicapped. Especially if there are more than one of them who bought the high tier ship on the same day. The veterans / regulars will have to carry harder or even harder.

WG of course will not care any of these problems. Their primary goal is "the spice money must flow".
Even if it breaks the game. Or breaks the game even further than it is. :Smile_sad:

You also have to consider the downside of selling high tier ships.

New players with little to no experience about this game can also buy them.

Whichever team he falls on, will be a liability or a handicap for that team.

One per team may not be much, but if multiple new players who bought high tier ships and have not yet have a grasp of this game, suddenly pop-up in Random and Raked battles, that's going to be rough for the regulars.

Unless WG makes a lock on selling mid tier and high tier ships for new players.

New players must play certain amount of games before they can buy mid tier and high tier ships.

Of course there are probably better ideas out there, but this is just one of the few suggestions to lock selling mid and high tier ships for new players who do not have a grasp of the game yet.

WG of course will not care any of these problems. Their primary goal is "monetization first".

Even if it breaks the game. Or breaks the game even further than it is.

Only players who have played a certain number of games in random battles with a tier 8 ship should be eligible to buy a tier 10 ship.

It would be really stupid of WG to let their myopic greed ruin the game: you don't kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.

Frustration with the match making system and other issues are already running high, adding other frustrating elements may just be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

I think WG has already killed the goose(?) during the 2021 summer fiasco.

  • 2021 summer lootbox commucation error
  • LWM incident
  • CC exoduse
  • Mishandling of "Return of Missouri" event
  • Turry incident

All in quick succession in the span of 2 months.

Unless WG has a second goose or has a goose egg that they are willing to take care until it hatches.

But knowing WG, they might kill that goose too in a short preiod of time.

Not to mention the 200++ bugs in the game that WG knows, but currently have no intention to fix them.

How is this a downside to WG exactly? They have sold the ship and made a large profit. Sounds like a win to me.

You're still looking at it as if WG care about the quality of play. They offer a "product" for sale, people buy it, job done, case closed.

Some people will be a liability to their team and some will be an asset to theirs. Out out WG's control who does what as long as they made a sale.

I'm sure they have a list longer than your arm, enough to keep them busy for years to come of different combinations to come up with. Both real and made up.

It's only going to get more common to see new things come up for sale.

When I started in 2017 the game was a relatively simple affair, now it is so "busy" with all the various cammos, extra ship lines including the made up ones, missions etc etc etc.

The game keeps getting exponentially bigger in terms of what you can buy and / or grind for, yet the game modes themselves (including maps)  and actual gaming experience has not changed all that much.

Ah, for that statement, its the player side who is in the reciving end, not WG.

WG is all about the moolah.

No arguments here.

Especially 2019 till current.

Yeah, gonna agree.

It's just a matter of time when the others are put on sale.
