Why would you spend a "zac" on this game?

I have been playing sin 2015 in various guises and I have never spent 1 cent on it and more than likely never will and I wonder why anyone would. Besides whaling for better ships why have you spent your hard earned so the Russian can go and spend it on blow and booze?

Because I have a budget for video games and I play this one a lot, so if there's something I like or a way I like to play, I do it.

I also don't have much time as I work full time and have a young son, so by spending a little here and there for premium time and such, I can get the most out of the time I have.

And finally because I'm a little of a collector and there are a range of ships I will pick up, regardless of if they are bad or not. Primarily it's Commonwealth ships, real or imagined but there are other nations I wish to get all the ships for, or particular ships.

Good on you for not spending a cent BUT... I would warn against judging or looking down on people for spending money (not saying you are), the value of money varies a lot country to country or situation to situation...

I work hard for my money and earn a good wage and my expenditure on the game is a minute fraction of that.  I dont drink, smoke or have expensive habits or hobbies and I like to come home and unwind, play a few games and collect ships.

You made the decision not to spend anything and that's not an issue because the game has many player like you and many other that range from small spenders to big spenders,  but was there even a point to start a thread to question other players choices?

Indeed. We are adults and capable of deciding how we spend our money. Also, why do some folks resent the fact that the developer/publisher of 'World of Warships'/owner of WG/employees of WG earn a good living from this game?

If a player thinks that this game isn't worth spending his/her money on, then by all means do not spend your money on this game. It's a valid choice.

Because they charge a AAA price for just one ship.

And they have done so for long before microtransactions were normalised by mobile phone games.

I don't disagree that it's a lot of money to spend, but it's a persons money to spend...

To be honest, even with whaling, WoWS is not an expensive hobby. We have guys who are into cars, motorcycles, girls (the bad kind), ... where thousands of cash go in the blink of an eye. WoWS whaling tops out at max 10 grand + another 10 for a good PC.

One night shady stand of the quality type, 1 grand. A motor of the high end ? 10 grand but upto 50 or a 100.

The money scale differ greatly if you see gaming vs other type of hobby.

I had one guy who love fishing so much that he spend 300 grand to get his own boat and go fishing on weekend.

Your earning capacity go alot in saying this much is too much or too little. If you fall into the former, if might be better to think of ways to improve it.

If you spend a little money on the game, you feel you are more entitled to complaining about it than if you don’t.

Also, you can then threaten to stop spending money on the game if you don’t like something.

F2P players can’t threaten that. And don’t really have any right to complain about something they’re getting for free.

I don’t spend much money on WoWS, I only spend what I can afford and want to, and despite it all, I still enjoy the game.

Paying money also shows that you recognise that it IS a business. It needs money to operate.

And while corporate greed would probably have succeeded regardless, maybe if all the F2P players had spent a little more, WG would not have relied so much on whales and manipulation.

this community is made up of so many different people, from many countries, and each little sub community has different budgets and economies. We do not live in an ideal world, and there is a price to pay, even with a free to play game, you still have to pay for your ISP and network costs. If it costs me a little bit of money or a lot to enjoy this game with some great people local and abroad, then I can do that.

Just be a good person, play the game how you want too, as little or as long as you like.

And I look forward to joining you in Operations if the timing is right, or Co-op or ranked, Brawls, Random or Clan Battles. 

And trust you will respect my choices, as I respect yours.
