10 DEFEATS non-stop ! Within 1st few minutes, AT LEAST 4 ships in our team SUNK with NO enemy losses EVERY GAME!

I feel your frustration! 

In three of the PvP Random games yesterday, our other flank collapsed as soon as contact was made! In one case our players on that flank ran away to the corner BEFORE the Red team had time to engage. They ran as soon as the match started. I do not know why some people play Random if they are not wanting to try to win.

I feel your pain. In the last few weeks I've had defeat runs of 20-25 battles in ranked. A few times. No matter what I do it's just loss after loss. Not sure statistically how this is possible but here I am.

sometimes you win some sometimes you lose some. I saw you before in red team before and beaten us (you were in your Roon / Hipper ) if I recall 😕

I've said this before and I'll say it again - not only is there something a bit fishy with the MM but the way the MM is supposed to work where it is truly random with team allocations then regardless of your personal skill level you should have a win/loss ratio of approx 50/50.

Put the MM together with the Ranks system where you need to have win streaks to advance up the ranks to rank 1 then theoretically this should be nearly impossible since you will be going forward and backwards and getting nowhere. As many people (myself included) have achieved getting to Rank 1 and beyond, it shows the MM is not really random but biased in some only WG knows way.

Skill based MM won't fix anything.

Had a game last night in Bourg. Only my second game. I have a 52% win rate. I died in just over 4 minutes.

Why? 1 DD, no CV, and the cruisers on my side refused to go scout, the Moskva actually reversed. Someone had to go find the enemy with their face, {me}.

I found 4 BB's and 2 Cruisers, turn around and hit my speed boost. Ate all the AP and a chunk of HE then died. The highest scorers on the team were the ones who ran away at the start.

A skill based MM will not fix anything.

Statistics, any statistics, don't care about your previous results.  Your next battle is always (?) 50/50.  Sometimes RNG just sh!ts on you.  Sometimes just stop for a while.

I'm not sure how you can suggest personal skill level doesn't affect your win rate.   If MM is truly random, what else could it be.   Are you suggesting MM  is rigged for certain individuals.  Being too random is why sometimes one team gets unicums, the other doesn't. One team gets radars, the other doesn't..   The only way for everyone to have a 50/50 win rate is if MM was deliberately matching on "skill levels" or "WR"    Definitely not random.    True the battles would be more interesting.  But if you start getting better, MM will just slap you down and match you with tougher opposition..

There would be no incentive to learn or to try to improve. A terrible player will stay a terrible player and will have the same win rate as the better players

I think that is because Ranked mode actually separates people according to their ranks, and thus whichever team has more better players will advance (aka more consistent winners), and somewhere along the way "inadequate" players will get stuck and can't advance unless they have very good team mates continuously. If a player wins, they advance, but they lose, they get stuck. If you are at Rank 3 in a league, you don't play with/against Rank 12 players. The normal Random MM is still there, but the losers in low rank battles are already filtered out, so you wouldn't see them in higher ranks. There is no WR "going nowhere" if the system can filter out the consistent losers. That is probably the "bias" you mentioned. Thanks for proving that the Ranked system works as intended I guess.

In Random there doesn't seem to be any measure to filter out the "inadequate" players from being mixed with actually good players, and thus win/loss streaks are far more common.

Whether WG do have some kind of fishy MM algorithm is something someone has to break in their offices to know. Excuse me while I put my tinfoil hat on.

 

Anyway, if you have 50% WR before you get a 20 losses win streaks, and you still have 50% WR afterwards, then it's just gambler's fallacy (and perhaps statistics). If you have played 5k Random battles, 20 losses couldn't put a dent into that. Also the human brain is miraculous in the fact that it can cherry pick out specific things to point out, while filtering out things that would disprove it. 

If I get a 5 loss streak in WoWS, I would just do something else. There are other things to do on my PC, like offline games.

 

PS. I myself want a +1/-1 MM in Random but WG is an evil genie so I wouldn't expect too much from them. Playing a T8 ship with only 5 Upgrade slots against T10 ships with 6 Upgrade slots is apparently fair for some players.

But they made Arms Race so yay I guess.

Keep getting damaged, burned and shot at by planes... 5 repairs max whether sunk or not, you will get that completed.

I get loss streaks like this all the time.  Funnily enough, I can NEVER recall a winning streak of 10 in a row. Anything above 3 wins in a row is unusual.

Explanation time: if you are a good player then you will randomly be assigned with other good and bad players. If you are a below par player then you will be randomly assigned with other good and bad players. You will get games where you carry the team to victory and you will get games where you are carried to victory by your randomly assigned team. So regardless of your skill level you will still win and lose games depending on the randomly assigned team you got. While personal skill can affect the game to an extent, the games being team oriented tend to require a team approach unless the teams are very evenly matched. So a player single-handedly carrying the game for the entire team is very improbable with any wins by that player probably having had to rely on the effect of the team's effort to do so.

As for your arguments saying "Being too random is why sometimes one team gets unicums, the other doesn't. One team gets radars, the other doesn't." - that is not the point being made. The point is that game after game results in losses with massive losing streaks as mentioned by others. If the MM were truly random then those win/loss streaks should not happen with the frequency that others on the forums have complained about.

More examples of the wondrous, magical and utterly fantastic MM in action. This is from 3 games in a row. Notice the consistent assignment of players to the team who cannot even get to 200 base XP in a random game...
