ST 0.10.7, New Ships

In 0.10.7, we're introducing a branch of German battleships, British Tier X battleship Incomparable, German Tier VIII battleship Brandenburg and Tier VI destroyer Karl von Schönberg.

Please note that all information in the development blog is preliminary. Announced adjustments and features may change multiple times during testing. The final information will be published on our game's website.

The following researchable German battleships (battlecruisers) will be added to the game in the upcoming closed testing session:

  • Tier III Von der Tann
  • Tier IV Moltke
  • Tier V Derfflinger
  • Tier VI Mackensen
  • Tier VII Prinz Heinrich
  • Tier VIII Zieten
  • Tier IX Prinz Rupprecht
  • Tier X Schlieffen

Ships of Tiers III-V are based on the real ships of the Imperial German Navy that participated in World War I. The battleship Mackensen was launched in 1917 but not completed. The Tier VII-X battleships are based on designs developed in the late 1910s.

Key features of the German battleships:

  • The availability of torpedoes with a high range.
  • A large number of secondary guns with high accuracy.
  • Low visibility.
  • Availability of the "Hydroacoustic Search" consumable similar to that of German cruisers.
  • Availability of the "Fast Damage Control Team" consumable with an accelerated reload time, relative to the standard "Damage Control Party".

British battleship Incomparable,
Tier X

phpJgOIJH

A 1915 design for a gigantic fast battlecruiser, armed with six 508-mm guns in three turrets.

The battleship is notable for her good speed, slim armor, and powerful AA. Incomparable is equipped with the "Engine Boost", "Repair Party" and — the standard for the British destroyers — "Short-Range Hydroacoustic Search" consumables.

The best tactic would be to play at medium range, taking into account the ship's low firing range and good concealment.

German destroyer Karl von Schönberg,
Tier VI

phpFiAeoO

A variant of the Type 34 destroyer project. A comparatively large ship for its class, armed with "cruiser caliber" artillery.

The destroyer is armed with four 150mm main battery guns in four turrets, with a huge salvo weight for a destroyer. Karl von Schönberg is equipped with "Engine Boost" and "Repair Party" and, unlike the German researchable destroyers, Schönberg does not have access to the "Smoke Generator" and "Hydroacoustic Search" consumables.

Due to her good firing range and powerful artillery, the destroyer performs best in mid-range combat, dealing damage with its powerful AP-shells against poorly armored targets.

German battleship Brandenburg,
Tier VIII

phpaCbgMB

A project of a battleship developed in Germany in the late 1930s that's distinguished from the Bismarck class by its armament of twelve 305-mm guns.

In addition to the numerous main battery guns, the ship stands out for having a large number of secondaries, as well as two four-tube torpedo launchers. Brandenburg is equipped with the "Repair Party" consumable in one slot, and the choice between "Fighter" and "Spotting Aircraft" in the other.

Please note that all information in the development blog is preliminary. Announced adjustments and features may change multiple times during testing. The final information will be published on our game's website.

The new German fast BBs have good range (despite them saying "low range of fire") and good reload time, my estimation of HP pool (kinda low but okay), then I saw the Sigma value and silently let out "what in the name of sauerkrauts is this?"

WHAT THE SCHEIßE IS 1,6 AND 1,7 SIGMA???

Forget buffing HP or RoF, buff the damn accuracy first, because that makes the GK's main gun accuracy looks stellar in comparison.

Start from 1,8 Sigma, like the main line (1,8), then go from there. This is TOO LOW.

1.6 / 1.7 Sigma? Coupled with the most inaccurate BB gun characteristics.
Good luck hitting something with that!

I'd take one Bradenburg pls! As long as it's for coal resource I don't care how crap it is, I'll be one of it's early adopters.
HMS Incomparable, if it's for coal .. I'm sold. No questions or reviews asked.

Hear! Hear!

And T6 DD should have been a tech tree.

Edit:

After looking at the picture, it's actually a copy / clone of E. Gaede with 150 mm guns mounted and missing Hydro and Smoke.

I really thought it was Type 1934A. But it's the other Type 1934 variant (the one that did not win) and not the Z1 Maass Type 1934.

Calm down a bit as it seems that the German battlecruisers will use the Spee Dispersion?

Prinz Heinrich (Ersatz Yorck) has 204-m dispersion at a range of 18.6-km which is the same as Florida. For comparison, KGV's dispersion with ASM1 is stated as 225-m at 18.1-km. Lyon, also with ASM1, rated 231-m at 18.6-km.

So the Bradenburg is dockyard and the U.K. Battlecruiser is for Redo Both resource?
Forget about that U.K. BB then.

German Battlecruiser dispersion formula.
Not American or British Battlecruiser formula but German.
WG gives them the best 2ndaries in accuracy and penetration but gives them the worst main gun behavior(Battlecruiser or Battleship characteristics).

So it's another Odin then? But with more guns this time.

(edit)
Oh, didn't we already have the Pommern at T9?
I guess they also want you to have it at T8 too.

Odin with Hydro and spotter for maximum teamplay, i think the tier VI will be added in the same dockyard as Brandenburg, sweet bonus! (like Hizen and Odin, which comes with a free ship)

Pommern isnt a dockyard but rather a dick move to waste your resource somewhere. still good though.

Honestly speaking I don't know whether you are serious or just making jokes but there is no "German battlecruiser dispersion".

I spent some time to prove my argument and the calculations turn out as above. If there is something "German" here indeed that would be the low Sigma values.

Or, if we talk about the worst main gun behavior, how would the AP shells be are worrying considering the Great War Vintage shells used by Oklahoma, Bayern and PEF.

T8 but with 305mm , hey that caliber is not even good for T6 ( questionable even for T5 ), unless its got some magic property somewhere, otherwise I fail to see the point

@IJN_Katori

T6 Schonberg is actually a clone of E. Gaede with 150 mm guns mounted and missing Hydro and Smoke.

So if it's a dookyard reward ship, then it's an inferior version of the tech tree E. Gaede.

I would prefer to get T-61as a dookyard reward rather than Schonberg.

If Germany is going to be the Christmas dookyard event.

A quick comparison with Wiki stats shows that Derfflinger, Mackensen and Prinz Heinrich all use World War I vintage shells as their shell parameters seem the same with stock hull Kaiser, PEF and Bayern respectively. Zieten and Rupprecht has the same shells with stock FdG and GK, and it is certain that Schlieffen has different (and largely inferior) parameters for her 420-mm main guns comparing with the 420-mm German gun currently in game, and judging from the differences, unfortunately, Schlieffen would probably use guns that fire lighter projectiles at higher velocity (Shells initial velocity 835-m/s vs. 800-m/s, HE damage 4600 vs 5000, HE fire chance 27% vs 41%, AP damage 12950 vs 13500).

I think that the guns may have better performance at closer ranges but weaker at longer range if they are "up to modern parameters", except WG gives some wonderful parameters like drag coefficient.

I think the dispersion pattern of Schlieffen (current version: Spee dispersion with 1.7 Sigma) can be previewed with Florida by using only her bow turrets (8 guns) with her bow pointing at targets.
