Its a good ship but why not just play through the Alsace.  Also a good ship.

France is... okay but powercrept by the new lines. It is pretty nasty to cruisers at mid/long ranges. Suffers from lack of dpm and HP pool but has decent secondaries. Some people say the accuracy is not what it used to be (ie, it was more accurate when it was released than it is now) but I don't notice it.

The line is actually good so no need to skip it (although I had trouble with the Richeliu)

Repub is not bad, everything of it is fast. But imo not competitive

what? Republique literally have the best in game gun, sporting the second best fire starter, its AP Pen is better than Yamato below 15km. did i told you its potential less than 18 sec reload?

Republique only drawback is silly A-X gun layout, if it have Riche AB- Layout, it will be the most broken bastard..... its so silly that the ship itself is extremely hard to citadel like kurfurst but prone the low caliber cause its silly 32 mm everywhere.

 

last but not least, Republique is not powercreeped.... Republique herself is powercreep, beating Montana AA that considered best BB AA and better secondary than Bebek Kurfurst before german HE Buff...... combining SPEED..... its still relevant and meta itself.

The only real letdown on the T10 French BB is its A-X turret layout . which mean most of the time you just cannot bring them to bear on enemy full

Imo the line is pretty decent. The only ships I didn't like where Richelieu and Republique

I enjoyed the French BB line till Republique. Republique is disappointing and not competitive. While the guns hit hardest. That is IF it hits accurately. The dispersion is bad. Dead eye helped it a lot to make it competitive but not any more. Its armour is bad and takes HE damage easily plus overmatch AP shells from Yamato/ Shikhishima. Not fun to play at all except for ranked. Bourgogne at least has reload booster. Alsace is amazing though and fun.

Republique is very fragile because of the plating. It’s also somewhat inaccurate so that isn’t great. It gets utterly destroyed by other battleships when you’re not careful. It gets utterly destroyed by carriers as well (from my experience playing Richthofen). It’s got several weaknesses obviously, I’m not sure if Republique is worth it anymore.

Meet a decent player using a hard hitting battleship or carrier, and he’ll probably leave you in ruin.
