Or as I like to call it "+4pt confirmation bias". 😁

I read a lot of comments to the effect of it not being worth the skill points. I've been using it on my Fletcher and Gearing since the skill rework came out, and always felt it gave me a unusually charmed life. Like the enemy had crazy bad aim. And when the skill times out ... oof! suddenly all the shells start to stick the landing as it were.

I draw your attention to this reddit post. Seems maybe my intuition wasn't so far off after all.

if you can spare that 4Ā  points, then why not , but I doubt if at all many DD Captain would had that 4 point spare

I believe I saw some testing that was done shortly after the skills rework, that showed a 12-13% reduction in damage taken while dazzle was in effect, so it does definitely do something.

Having said that, I personally think it's a waste of points, there are far better skills to take.Ā  Simply throwing it into reverse instead of forwards like everyone expects you to generally throws off every first salvo fired at you, which is the time that dazzle is in effect.

I hate to say this but taking the 4 point n00bl0rd skill to find the closest enemy target is much more effective than shining a laser pointer at the people shooting you. It might be better off on the smokeless dds that need to run while under fire.

4 skill pointsĀ I rather take something else...(i.e. Concealment Expert, Radio Location etc.), least I can use these skillsĀ instead of "Hey , shoot me please to make it work" skill

A lot of skills can simply be replaced by... player skill. I always found vigilance to be a useless skill because it can be replaced by WASD. Many people find they can just use their own awareness to replace priority target.

The better skills are those that can grant things that player skill cannot.

It kinda work on gunboats like Marceau as the effect is completely spammable with nothing that prevents it.

  1. Spam your gun in the first 10 seconds
  2. Use the last 5 seconds to disengage
  3. Repeat to step 1 once the concealment bloom goes normal

If done properly, you can farm reports as you happen to be the most insufferable HE spammer in the game after Thunderer:Smile_trollface:

Rng skill is rng skill. It's only as good as it's next use and it's not reliable.

Ā

It does something, but no sane min/maxer will recommend it with the options it competes for.

Hmm... that does explain all the dead marceaus I have been collecting in GB that think they can avoid my pew pew. Still die.

I would say it's a near must in comp.

You bring it not for the DD fight but for what is behind the enemy DD and allĀ the focus fire you're going to receive from just being spotted + also if you're capping and don't have the opportunity to actively manoeuvre (Reversing in for safety) the dispersion nerf that Dazzle providesĀ will potentially save you a littleĀ more HP and all HP is really valuable on a DD! But I will say also Dazzle isn't generally included in my first 14 points on a DD.

If I'm being honest though I don't bring it in randomsĀ cause big damage numbers make me feel better lol, I would prefer toĀ bring another skill like fearless brawler.

Marceau's population has been saturated by newbs who play it like braindead shima, soo.... Especially in GB where the players only play it for "fun" rather than to actually win.

Marceau is overrated. My trusty Gearing serves me well. And Haru. And Shima. _and without survivability expert even_

PS.
There should be a "playing for fun" checkbox in the game so that they can put all the "for fun" players onto one team so that the serious players that put effort into it don't feel shortchanged.
