Am I investing too much in this game

As per today I have:
- 156 ships in port

- 55 of which are premium/special ships

- 8600+ battles all mode (about 1500+ hours of precious life, easily most time spent in any games, second place is far 500 hours in Cities Skyline, as reported by my steam account)

- 6 years since first registered

- roughly 3+ years near-exclusive play

- Spent $400+ (easily my biggest amount of money spent in a single game, second place is far +/-$100 for Witcher III and all of its DLCs)

- All of this excludes investments in WoT (11k+ battles)

I think I have sold my soul to WG

Need to take a break and play other games or do other hobbies, after premium time ends in 2 months (probably a sunk cost fallacy)

Backlog is mounting

I know these are mere a drop in a bucket for some of you forum regulars.

I would merely look at the situation as thus...

  1. Devote your time to the games you want to play and enjoy playing.
  2. Investing money in those games is investing in your own enjoyment, do as much of it as you wish.
  3. WG games are not a great cost-benefit investment compared to other products.

Don't feel bad for investing money in enjoying things but if you think you are putting too much money into it, by all means cut back.

Personally I like MMO and PvP-ish games and WoWS is the one I play the most and enjoy playing. Subsequently it gets a large chunk of the money I'm willing to spend on games. BUT I do limit my games spending, so if I spend on WoWS I'm not spending on other games.

That's fine, I'll usually pick up other titles on special and play them and mostly complete them but at the end of the day no other MMO/PvP games have my attention now or soon (although Ashes of Creation could do it for me).

FYI I've played for a similar time, spent far more money than you and have a few more battles (I'm around 10k) and have 270-280 ships.

NB: If you were playing many other MMOs (say with subscriptions), you would have spent similar or greater amounts of money in the time you played; so I think you've played WoWS very intelligently.

Spend as much or as little as you want, as long as it is within your means.

Perfect way to approach anything.  if you enjoy the game and can afford to do it then spend what you want.

I threw an absolute fortune into WOT, owning a ton of premium tanks and one day just stopped cold turkey and never went back because it was become bad for my health.   ive never regretted it

If you are asking that question then yes. Actually, over the past 2 years, putting any money and/or time into the game is already investing too much.

I was a tanker 3 years ago (still a student at school), play CW and Stronghold games daily with my clanmates.

It was fun, engaging, and having very high winrate (sometimes 30+ games with 90%+ winrate).

Even if we lose, we will discuss about tactics without grumbling.

If we made the mistakes ourselves, we knew we learned something.

We will rush to sale to buy the newest tanks in those years. I have about spent 400 USD on tanks.

And i still wish I can have my Obj261's super AP back kek.

Now, yeah, we got fu(k!n jobs. I want relax while playing.

"Competitive" is a double-edge sword to a game it seems.

Slaughtering bots in scenario and coop becomes the most relaxing to do now.

I like collecting ships. Im glad that we can still make progress in coop.

But that is what I do now.

I have 86 ships, 5 tier X (two cannot have cuz credits but already unlocked).

Play as you want.

If buying ships and tanks get the happiness you want, why not.

If playing cause more pain or angerrrrrr, then you are not playing. You are played.

I started with WoT while waiting for the release of WoWs.
When WoWs was released I played both and was happy when WG decided to do that 1 Premium for all their games.
Then they decided to go exclusive AGAIN per game on their Premium time, I had to make a decision ... I can't sail on both rivers specially with the premium tanks/ships, premium time and real time spent.
I decided to stick it out with WoT and left WoWs for almost a year until they decided to Gacha Wall a T8 premium tank that December 2 years ago and that was the last straw.
Gacha is gambling and gambling is a fast money sink.
Went back to WoWs and focus on it.
If you enjoy the game, helps you relax and relieves your stress.
A little investment from time to time is fine.
Don't count on how much you've spent as it is the time you paid for entertainment.
Entertainment is an expense you pay for enjoyment.
If you don't enjoy it then there's no reason for you to pay for it anymore.
Why would you pay to suffer or build up stress?

WG is the devil seducing you with shinny ships and things that go boom. It is your destiny to resist such temptation.

You don't have the waifus yet. You haven't invested enough until you have the waifu collection from HSF and AL.

Thanks guys for the replies. Much appreciated.

As expected though, most replies are in the tone of do what you think is fun (and within means) instead of advising more restraint 😁

Which I think am gonna do yea😊

Will spent or play as much as or as little as I enjoy, take a cut or break as needed.

Avoid burn out.

Also You spent money for entertainment. Come to think of it, $0.25 per hour or entertainment in my case (excluding electricity, internet and gaming equipment depreciation) Still a great offer compared to other means or hobbies

Unless when it is losing streak time though 😡😡

See you guys in battle (or not when I’m on a break) 👍🏼🙏🏻

at least you've got you time out of it.

I have nearly $600Au sunk into star citizen, but i refuse to play until it's released so i don't get attached to jettisoned mechanics

The Missus and i just spent nearly $2KAu on Kingdom Death : Monster to spend more time together (but $1200 of that is unreleased stuff on backerkit). A single campaign play through is supposedly like 20+hrs, and theres plenty of randomness.

Pretty sure your good, as long as you're enjoying it.
