Just to confirm:

If I have Yamamoto Isoroku on Yamato BB, send him to Asashio DD premium ship NO retraining required. When I want him back on Yamato BB, NO retraining required too.

If I have a 21 point Captain on Massa BB premium ship, send him to Ohio BB premium ship NO retraining required. When I want him back on Massa BB, NO retraining required too.

For the above 2 mentioned, I can switch as many times as I want without retraining, correct?

Correct.   One feature of the skill rework is your captain can now be used in premium ships and skilled for another class.   You can return him as well withl no training cost

Who knows how he got there but it will cost you to retrain him for a tech tree ship.

But if I shuffle Yamamoto Isoroku on different category ships
Yamato BB
Hakuryu CV
Zao Cruiser
and any Premium ships...
again and again all the time, don't need retraining correct?

Lastly, shuffle a 20-point Captain between Yugumo DD and Asashio Premium DD, back and forth don't need retraining too?

Tech Tree ship to Tech Tree ship = Retraining

Tech Tree ship to Premium ship = No Retraining

Premium ship to Premium ship = No Retraining

Premium ship to Tech Tree ship = Depends
     If the captain is originally from the premium ship, and you put him on a tech tree ship = Retraining
          Musashi -> Yamato

     If the captain is originally from a tech tree ship, and you put him on a premium ship, and you put him on a different tech tree ship = Retraining
          Yamato -> Musashi -> Izumo

     If the captain is originally from a tech tree ship, and you put him on a premium ship, and you put him back on the same tech tree ship = No Retraining
          Yamato -> Musashi -> Yamato

If I missed anything please help fill up. Thanks.

No Retraining.

As long as back and forth between Yugumo and Asashio.

Since now Captain have different skill sets for different ship types...
so if Yamamoto Isoroku return back to his previous 3 ship types Yamato BB, Hakuryu CV, Zao CA which he is formerly from and trained on before, still need retraining?

YES. Changing any commander from one tech tree ship to another tech tree ship requires retraining.

Shokaku and Hakuryu both are tech tree ships.. Not premium ship.

In your case probably you have "elited" them i.e you have researched all its available modules.

But still they are "elite tech tree ships" (white icon with leaves) and not a "premium ship" (all gold icon with leaves)

you missed premium ship to premium ship= retraining

tt ship to tt ship= retraining

and premium ship to tt ship= retraining.

because all ships tend to play differently, requiring that one change in a skill.

for example my cv main captain can be trained for GZ, but if i want to use him in EL....I GOTTA change his skills.

If I want to use my CL main captain in wooster, i gotta change his skills from Atlanta....

If I want to use my KM BB main captain in scharny, I gotta change his skills from Dudpitz or  Bismarck.

the biggest differences are when you want to use a high tier trained captain in a lower tier ship, mostly around the AA captains skills builds.

Been using standard Captains all this while, until recently gotten legendary Commanders, Yamamoto and Halsey.

Which makes more sense? The explanations or the tequilas?  😉
