Played an interesting game in Francesco-Caracciolo today.

It was going well until near the end when enemy killed DDs, overtook our base and locked down our CV with their DD.

Where was I? I was other side of the map, leading a push and capping their base. Until their CV mad my group enemy no 1 and kept resetting us.

It was an unfortunate situation. I think I played well, and I know certain members of my team could have played smarter... but I can't control them, so was wondering what I could have done to save the game? Turned back earlier?

In any case, congratulations to the enemy team, who through luck or skill, managed a victory.

honestly? the best way to win is to assume everyone else on your team are shitters, support them if you can but conserve your HP and utility for they screw up and need to be carried

as always

This...

Full disclosure, most of the time I play a bit like my team is good, it gets me into trouble more times than not.

Also I won't be able to view the replays as by the time I finish work, patch will have applied 😢

As far as a big flank push resulting in a loss, the two primary reasons for loss are:

1. Enemy push into allied cap is done better

2. Allied push into a crossfire.

Both are positioning.

Generally if you are leading a push, don't turn around and defend as your team will fold in on itself, but if middle or back of the push, go back to defend and just stall for time.

If pushing into a crossfire try and focus the key ship in the crossfire (the one that can't just easily be replaced by another enemy ship).

Hope this helps Grygus!

Drak n Sapp nail it with those comments.

Took me a bit to figure out (and still learning) that the game ebbs and flows and you have to position so that you can respond to both. If your team lemmings then being in a position to help them push but still be able turn around and defend when needed is required.

It takes a pretty long time for ships to wipe out a flank and then push around to get into caps, that situation should not surprise you if you pay attention to mini-map. And I have found that most serious pushes are a result of several players, mostly likely BBs pushing together.

I tend strongly towards going back to help defend - I try to get into that position early which mostly playing DDs is easy to achieve. Plus being on a flank where they are pushing into me is about as good as it gets from a torp perspective.

Capping takes a long time to achieve, and interrupting that and getting a reset takes only one shot per ship. With the rates of fire in the game one person who knows what they are doing can hold up a multi enemy ship cap for a very, very long time. You can pop off a few shots to get the reset, do dark until they get a reasonable amount built up again, then rinse and repeat. You are not trying to kill anyone when they have multi caps going, just delay.
