Technically, service costs affect the net payment at the end. The less you pay, the more you earn. Unless somewhere the tech tree service costs got reduced while the prems didn't, this is just a honeypot to entice purchases of prems. Nothing more.

Service costs of those ships are so small, even reducing to 0 wouldn't do any significant to the game, if it even does anything at all. There is also no trading.

It's Credit, not Steel, not Doubloon, not even Coal or FXP.

But they did not even mention reduced by how much did they? Would assume that it is completely trivial as it is a very little amount.

The thing is; lower tier premium ships don't have huge credit modifier to begin with. So the motive that WG do this to sell the premium ships is far from the truth. Also most of the upcoming premium ships are over T7.

WG probably do this to shift more players away from the high tier games. I mean, why would you farm credits at low tier when you can earn more by playing the T9 premium ships without having to deal with the short end of the -/+2 MM? I mean really, you can YOLO rush to die in less than 5 minutes in JB, and still earn more credits than playing a full 20-minute game at T6.

Moreover isn't this how earning credits should be by default?

A lot (And I mean A LOT) of players play mid tier Co-op only.

For these players that play mostly premium mid tier ships,  and are trying to credit grind as well, this is a most welcome change to the game.

Not every player in this game plays Randoms, or has Tier 9 premium ships.....

Otherwise WG would never pull out ships from the premium ship & Armory due to popularity.

Also the majority of the forum posters still post things related to the PvP stuffs rather than PvE. The in-game Off-Topic chat channel is also full of players raging over whatever mess they suffer in Random.

Playing premiums only will make one of the "features" they introduced stupidly redundant. Obviously that feature didn't work as intended.

At the end of the day, this is all a cash grab. Combined with the "ships going out of business" sale that will happen, it's obvious that their balance sheet isn't positive enough.

If this was their intention, they should raise the post-battle service cost of the higher tiers (and piss players off again) instead. Cuz like you said, you can YOLO and die in a JB in five minutes and still earn more than a full game in lower or mid-tier ships.

The damage is already done, and almost irreversible.

However I figure out there is actually a loophole to implement that without breaking the already established norms. WG can just double or triple the ammo costs for all higher tier ships, this includes torps & planes. And because most high tier ships have either higher RoF, or larger salvo volume than the lower tier ships; this change could cause significant impact to the high tier economy.

 

Thunderer for example, whose ammo cost is currently 400 credits per shell:

  • When doubled = 800 credits
  • When tripled = 1200 credits

Let's say the Thunderer shoots 100 shells per battle, which equals 40k credits in ammo cost:

  • When doubled = 80k credits
  • When tripled = 120k credits

The total cost (without premium & clan bonuses) is currently 85k credits (if only shoots 100 shels of course):

  • When doubled = 125k credits
  • When tripled = 165k credits

So my conclusion is; this change will bring the total service cost back to what it used to be before the consumable rework.

Yes it can be achieved without breaking the already established norms regarding to the premium ships. But would the playerbase accept that "underhanded" change? Probably nope.

Yup this proves my point on that post. Seeing a lot of players in Co-Op doesn't necessarily mean they are the majority.

Not a big fan of this change even as a premium user, it would be a big OOF for Yamato/Shikishima because their shells are very costly. But I would love to see those who like to shoot at the island or randomly open fire at the start of the battle and exposing their positioning bleeding their wallet.

Apply this only to HE shells for certain ships to hurt f**king HE spmming BBs.

That's.... the point of this change!

According to the wiki, Yamato's shell costs exactly the same with Thunderer (400 credits). The wiki doesn't show Shikishima's ammo cost though.

Ah yes those random shooters are somehow irritating me a lot.

So...

The problem here is that WG are making us pay LESS for service costs form premiums of that level.

Meaning we are saving money?

And that’s a problem?

I suppose if it encourages more people to buy and play premiums at that level.

It could increase certain undesirable behaviour.

But since I mostly already play premiums at that level, doesn’t affect me much.
