Hello , I'm gonna make a-lot of facts about Italian Ships as soon as they're gonna be coming next year, Gonna lay out a facts for some of ppl who dun know about it.

Fact # 1 :

Some people often mistaken that speaker like device is a speaker but its actually a radar which is known as " GUFO " Radar.

This is the only radar that is built for Search only. But however it is not designed to deal with certain adverse weather. As far as i know most ships are built for Mediterranean coast and some can only go outside oceans.

The nickname of this radar is EC-3 ter or otherwise they called it an OWL.

Frequency : 400 - 750 MHZ

RPM : 3

Range : 25 - 80KM

interesting piece of history

Yeah , the fact is that Italian had only one kind of Radar meant for Search use. You mostly seen those on Monteccucoli , Roma and Venezia ( AL Littorio dont count its also a roma ) .

Duca Degli Abruzzi don't count because Germans gave that cruiser a radar.

Fact No # 2

Why most Cruisers are crap armored and like you gonna commit die faster?

The fact is that because of having armor being making it too slow , they decided not to add thicker armor, contrary to Condottierri Class Light Cruiser 5 Variants have very few actual armor because of their own motto :

Con Risolutezza , Con Rapidita ( Resolute and Rapid ) Motto.

All ships served in the Mediterranean during World War II .

Hence why in game, most of their cruisers like Alberto Di Giussano (T4) , Raimondo Monteccucoli (T5) , Duca'D Aosta (T6 Premium ) and Duca Degli Abruzzi ( T7 Premium ) are more into Gun Blazing hit and run tactics, you dont friggin act like heavy cruisers you know.

Its a hallmark of feature of trying to " Dodge " and " WASD HACKS " .

Monteccucoli.

Trento , Bolzano and Zara don't count as a Rapid and Resolution Scheme Cruiser. They're heavy.

Fact 3:

Pugliese torpedo defense system

All four ships (Vitorio Venetto class) incorporated a unique underwater protection system named after its designer, Umberto Pugliese. A 40 mm thick torpedo bulkhead extended inboard from the base of the main belt before curving down to meet the bottom of the hull. This formed a void which housed an empty drum 3,800 mm (150 in) wide with 6 mm (0.24 in) thick walls; the rest of the void was filled with liquid. The drum ran the length of the torpedo defense system, and was designed to collapse to contain the explosive pressure of a torpedo hit. The torpedo bulkhead would prevent any splinters or explosive effects from entering the ship's vitals. The system was designed to protect the ship from torpedo warheads up to 350 kg (770 lb).

Both No.

Pugliese can withstand 770 lbs torpedo

USN Mk.17 = 880 lbs
Pugliese = 💀

IJN Type 93 = 1080 lbs
Pugliese = ☠️

Pugliese cannot withstand Long Lance. Let alone you can try to withstand MK.17

Pugliese can only withstand old shit torps like

MK.14  (643 LBS )

MK.13 (600 LBS )

Type 92 ( 660 LBS )

Facts # 4 :

If i am not mistaken , the only ideal heavy high angle gun for not only at Ground, Naval for long range AA is 90mm Cannone Da 90/53 made by Ansaldo Company. Built to replaced the obsolete Skoda 10 cm K10 High Angle AA Gun.

Cannoni_90-50_mod._1939_-_corazzata_Roma

Most ships like Modernized Caio Duilio Class Battleship , Prototype Caracciolo Class Battleship and Littorio Class Battleships Variants had those cannons.

  • Calibre: 90 mm (3.54 in)
  • Barrel length: 4.736m (15 ft 6.5 in)
  • Travelling weight: 8950 kg (19,731 lbs)
  • Weight in action: 6240 kg (13,757 lbs)
  • Elevation: -2° to +85°
  • Traverse: 360°
  • Muzzle velocity: 830 m/s (2,723 ft/s)
  • Maximum ceiling: 12,000 m (39,370 ft)
  • Shell weight: 10.33 kg (22.77 lbs)
  • Rate of fire: 19 RPM

Moar Info

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannone_da_90/53

My Opinion :

Like damn look at how high the angle is. It was tied to 88mm Flak Cannon from Germans , UK QF 3.7 " AA Gun , US 90MM M1/M2/M3 Cannon , Soviet 85mm Air Defense Gun M1939 ( 52-K ) ( Pre T-34-85 D5T Cannon ) and IJN Type 89 88MM AA Gun.

Fact # 5 :

Did you know, There is an actual half completed CV?

CV Sparviero ( Sparrowhawk ) was actually a Ocean liner MS Augustus. They want to turned it into a CV like how Hosho a Seaplane Tender and Langley became a CV.

Be thankful it ain't completed. Weegee may think this as a Premium CV just to make DD life a living hell arming with SAP Rockets on Planes.

The Engine is slow as hell on planned on 20 KNTS.

Can carry about 16 Fighters and 9 TB's

Fact # 6 :

Regia Marina Carrier Aquila ( Eagle ) was once a 90% Done Large Carrier.

Until Germans steal it , and Italian Commando Frogmen sabotage it to prevent them from stealing shit.

It has German Steam Catapult on the front flight deck to launch faster.

It can Carry 51 Planes.

Currently, there's only 2 in completed carriers.

Fun Fact 6 Side Bar:

The carrier RM Aquila was featured in the anime Girls und Panzer.

The carrier acts as both school and tank transport in the anime.

Fun facts #7 , #8, #9, and #10: (Yes! 4 fun facts)

#7 Did you know, Italy considered to built their own Panzerschiff (Pocket battleships) in response to the German Deutchland / Luzow class.

#8 But later on up scaled the design in response to the French Dunkerque class.

#9 Ultimately, both designs were abandoned and was further up scaled leading to the development of the Littorio class with 406 mm.

Later down scaled it to 381 mm because there were no designs for the 406 mm at that time.

#10 The 406 mm would later make a come back on the proposed UP.41 design (the T9 Marco Polo). A design loosely based on the Littorio class for the Soviet Navy.

Armament:

The Italian Panzerschiff and her up scaled preliminary were both to be armed with 343 mm (13.5 in) guns.

The Italian Panzerschiff would displaced 18,000 tons (5,000 tons more than a fully loaded Deutchland / Luzow class), and have six guns, mounted in a "three gun" turret, in an AX configuration.

After abandoning the Panzerschiff design, up scaled design is now 27,000 tons, and have eight guns, mounted in a "two gun" turret, in an ABXY configuration

Article based on Littorio class preliminary desings:

By 1930, Germany had begun to build the three Deutschland-class ships, armed with six 280 mm (11 in) guns, and France had in turn laid down two Dunkerque-class battleships to counter them. The French vessels were armed with eight 330 mm (13 in) guns. In late 1932, Italian constructors responded with a design similar to the Deutschland class, but armed with six 343 mm (13.5 in) guns in triple turrets on a 18,000 long tons (18,000 t) displacement.

The Italian Navy decided that the smaller design was impractical, and that a larger design should be pursued. A 26,500 long tons (26,900 t) design was then prepared, which mounted eight 343 mm guns in twin turrets. This was ultimately abandoned in favor of a 35,000 ton design to be armed with 406 mm guns.

The 406 mm gun in turn was abandoned in favor of the 381 mm gun because there were no designs for the larger gun, which would delay construction; a 381 mm gun had already been designed for the canceled Francesco Caracciolo class.

UP.41:

In the early 1930s, the Soviet Navy began a naval construction program, and sought advice from foreign shipbuilders for a new class of battleships. On 14 July 1939, Ansaldo completed a design proposal for the Soviet Navy, for a ship largely based on the Littorio class, designated U.P. 41. The design was for a 42,000 t (41,000 long tons; 46,000 short tons) ship armed with nine 406 mm guns in triple turrets. The Italians did not disclose the specifications of the Pugliese system and instead used a multiple-torpedo bulkhead system. Regardless, the Soviet Navy did not use the U.P. 41 design as the basis for the Sovetsky Soyuz-class battleships they laid down in the late 1930s. They were, however, equipped with the Pugliese system, the details of which were revealed through Soviet espionage.

Note:

All I can dig up right now is ship specifications.

At the moment, I can not get or find any paper drawings of the said planned ships.
