Key Battles are here!!

Who will defeat the atrocities below and escape the Polygon? Which one of you has the capabilities to arise victorious in the Octagon? Only one ship will make it out afloat. Will you be the predator or the prey?

You can learn more about this epic game mode on the Big Hunt: The Key to Victory article. Sixteen players will battle each other and AI-controlled monsters on the gigantic Polygon map. Acquire keys from killing specific monsters to escape the Polygon through a portal that will take you to the Octagon. In the Octagon, the top 4 captains will battle to the last ship afloat! 

For destroying monsters and other players, you'll get a temporary resource — Battle Points. You can accumulate Battle Points to unlock ship upgrades mid-battle, and that brings me to my challenge to all of you! 

• Get a key and escape the Polygon
• Reach maximum Battle Points

Post a screenshot of you reaching maximum battle points and acquiring a key to escape the Polygon to the Octagon between Oct. 29th, 2020 at 6 pm EST to Nov. 29th at 6 pm EST. Three randomly-selected winners will be awarded: 

• Grand Prize: Random Tier IX Premium 
• Two Runner-Ups: Random Tier VIII Premium

I have yet to come up with a way to b the sole survivor, let alone to manage to escape into the portal.

The rewards are good through. I might aim for the runner up to get Eugen.

my clanmate said he never join a division and just somehow managed to mop the match with the stock hull

the 10,000 is after a multiplier  but still  u must mop all the player in that match

I think the points are based on how much you deal damage to players. The key will just double it, if you manage to escape into the portal.

Escaped with key, but didn't do much on the PvP

Well I've had enough battles to draw the conclusion on how the points are earned & maxed:

• Each player can only accumulate up to 5k points. The main issue is that it is literally impossible to earn more than 1k from the monsters only.
• Exiting the portal with key will double it. If you have 5k, then it becomes 10k.
• Being the last survivor will also double it.

However the tricky part is that you have be cunning enough at kill stealing the other players while keeping yourself afloat long enough to grab the key & escape through the portal. Or to beat the other players quickly in the Octagon before the game kills you.

As for the betrayals, I found it to be way too easy to betray that those who do so may not even intend to do so. Here's what happens most of the time:

1. Player A invites Player B to form a division.
2. Then Player B gets invited by Player C into his division, and accepts it.
3. Player B will arbitrarily leave Player A's division because he joins Player C's division.

Depending on whether they do it purposefully or not, Player B will either invite Player A into Player C's division, or Player B will attack Player A immediately.

In short, I believe this event has the same context with the Raid for the Filth. However WG might find that event to be too PvE-friendly, which is why the only sure way to earn the most from Key Battle is to go PvP more aggressively.

How do I get to the Octagon to battle with 3 other captains when successfully exited the portal with a key?  My game changed to spectator mode when I exited the portal with a key.

You... don't? When you get in Spectator mode, you are finished with the battle, just like any normal mode.

The wording in the OP is kinda wrong: If you exit the Portal with a Key, you are done with the battle. There is no way for those who escaped with a Key to fight each other.

You don't. If you read the instructions carefully, only those who survive without keys duke it out in the octagon.

I think the biggest challenge of the current contest is that we have to farm the Battle Points until it's maxed. Getting a key & escape into the portal is one thing. Farming enough Battle Points before we escape on another hand...

Holding they key while farming the Battle Point is incredibly difficult because most players will focus on you. But letting the others get the key & you kill them in the last minute is just as difficult as the former. And of course you will never know who & when your allies will betray you.

There is also positioning problem. If you are too far from the portal when it opens, you can't reach the portal in time unless everyone is being nice to you (which is very unlikely to happen).

I've made it though. Although it was by sheer luck.

PS: I hate mortars.

Why bother to farm unless you're a masochist?

Every key battle I have played, I play with complete disregard to the battle points. Instead I play it for pure enjoyment. Die, die-lah. what is so problematic? I have gotten into the octagon twice, the 2nd time of which was fun. My entire div plus one were the last 4 remaining. We ganged up on the stranger, then we proceeded to duke it out. I can say all 3 of us tried our best but like highlander, there can only be one.

I farm for the T9 camo (one) and love the brawl. It's not usual where I have the chance to just do FFA in a closed arena where everyone can shoot at everyone else. That and the brawl near when the Portal closes, hilarious. I and my div will just shoot at anyone else that isn't an ally. 

I can't even believe some people actually die to the monsters. FFS.

To get the 5k points? That's one of the contest requirements I have yet to be able to escape with 5k points.
