Gee, it’s almost like no one asked for this, no one wanted this, we told them not to add it, we told them we hated it, and they went and added it anyway and got confused when we didn’t like it.

No one wanted it in this form...

It works perfectly as a cosmetic prestige system!

WG: Please give us your feedback.
Community: We give you feedback. We don't like it. Please re-work the idea. (We even said please.)
WG: No! I don't believe you. You go to gulag. Hehehehe.

WG: Please, I beg of you, use my mechanic. I will give research points for daily combat mission.
Community: No!

If WG only have listened to community feedback a year ago. WG could have kept paying and playing players in the game.
But nooooooooooo. Instead they WG went EA, Activition mode.
And now that there will be a new "snowflake" mechanic coming, NTC / RB will be more undesirable than as it is.

I'm a bit slow on the uptake here....

This thing isn't compulsory, so the choice is yours.

If you don't like it, don't do it.

And if you don't do it, it won't affect you.

Seems easy.

I'm confused.

It's because they lock ships (Slava, Ohio, Colbert, Siegfried and Palao Emilio) and their respective playstyles behind the system.

They are forcing players to use this 'optional' feature to access gameplay they wish to experience.

There is more to it, but that's the bulk of things.

But companies shouldn't be able to get away with bad ideas. This idea is bad, as the reaction to the video has shown. This isn't the stupid anti-CV or anti-DD sentiment where the people are just raging impulsively and without good reason.

It's like saying "don't buy it" to EA's gambling loot boxes, while those boxes are morally wrong and nations are working to put EA to court for it.

The grind isn't even fun and to speed it up, use money (which is the whole point of this feature), but there are things about it that apparently doesn't sit well with most players.

Won't affect me? I don't have Slava, Ohio, Small-length, etc. but I still have to fight against those things if I see them in a battle. It absolutely affects me.

if only it was that simple, some stuff like the ships in there are fine

the biggest issue is that they took existing things like the unique upgrades tthat you could have easily accessed, and then put them behind a way larger grind/pay wall

Not being able to play certain pixel botes certainly creates a lot of angst. That's for sure.

FOMO* has gone into high gear.

*fear out missing out.

I totally agree. The only bad ideas in business are the ones that lose money. If this somehow loses money and bites them on the arse, so be it. It may be good, it may be bad. Only time will tell this one.

But I don't have a Zao, and countless other ships and I probably never will. That affects me the exact same way.  But that doesn't make me hate the relevant line....that's just life.

This is the line I needed to hear to convince me!

I'm with you guys.

There is ONE simple thing that would make me personally "reset" lines:

LET ME KEEP MY BLOODY SHIPS

There are a lot of players who have too much credit and nothing to spend on, but this is NOT how you do a credit sink. It NEVER will be. The core content in this game is the ships and they expect us to give them up? How is that even a valid idea?

That is because the whole idea stink of $ and $ only .... it give nothing positive to the gaming experience and the game itself , its trying to lure people to money through the grind , and artificially putting features behind pay-wall ( unique upgrade ). If indeed the wanting is for people to play more low to mid tier ( as original intent, though nobody really believe that was their intent ), they can just made more Campaigns , time limited and unlimited ones , or events that last a few patched instead of only 1 .... the whole RB thing is nothing but credit sink and money grab and doing it with the worst possible manner ( asking player to let go of their hard earn ships ) ... the unique upgrade part is particularly nasty as now you force player to reset to be able to get their ship up to par with peers ...

Now, I haven't used RB and have to intention to.

But from what I understand, you don't ever need to go through the whole grind on each ship to get research points?

Meaning that once you get the points, you are stuck with a long grind, unless you use and/or pay for free XP (which I will not use because A, I'm cheap, and B, there are still FXP ships I want, and C. You can use FXP for captain levels.)

Long story short, I agree with Paladinium.

Sorry mate!

If there wasn't one on that I started putting language warnings on vids just after that, lol.

Most of the vid series I keep language out of it, Un-Eff-It and Random Rants still got it though... (and I think one or two early BLUFs)

It's ok, if it comes up, just throw me under the bus, lol.

And the community is right. This is a rubbish execution of a concept that many other games execute very well.

Those games also don't necessarily have a horrible grindfest back up to the "highest level" like this game.
