Let me get this straight WG -

It's 18,000 tokens to get a Kansas, a tech tree T8 US BB that, as a Colorado owner, I will be able to buy with credits outright from next patch?

I'm sitting on 8k tokens with 2 events left to run. So if I read this right WG is making it so you have to pay doubloons to complete up to the event stage that gives you Kansas.

Oh ho ho ho .. no way, not even close. Premium ship, I might consider it, if it wasn't a battleship that I would never want to play over N. Cal like ever. But actual money for early access to a premium ship? Not a snowball's chance in hell.

It is arguable that this event is rather poorly designed (I dislike how the chain bundles are arranged too) and the new slow American battleships would likely be underpowered and not fun to play, however the thing costs 18000 tokens is Kansas' event commemorative permacamo rather than the ship herself (as reward for completing the directives).

A T8 permacamo is 4000 doubloons. WG is asking 12000 doubloons for 18000 tokens. Directive rewards "discount" that, but still, this bundling-with-junk-to-inflate-value gimmick is spiralling out of control.

Yeah was just thinking that.

ie this.

That I have.

For NO good reason that I can justify...

The actual ship comes at the END of the directives.

I stopped whaling too late.

I didn't read the fine print.

I thought I would at least get Kansas too.

SMH @me

Luckily Shadowlands prepatch drops in a couple of days and I will be distracted from my idiotic spending of money on this most confusing and stupid of early access events.

No, really, this is coming from Max_Whale.

This is a bad early access event.

Worst I have had anything to do with.

WG has been doing this "questionable" practices ever since the PR PR dumpster fire fiasco.

To a point that the playerbase / community trust is "somewhat" lost.

Wow, I just this event is way worse than I thought! Thanks @Max_Battle for pointing that out.

First I had to figure out that Kansas was a tech tree, not a premium ship. Second I didn't realize you didn't get access to the ship at that time.

OK then, deep breath: The eight stages are as follows. Numbers in tokens, followed by cumulative number in brackets. 1500 tokens costs 1000 doubloons, which is roughly $5 US. (I use 2:1 as the nominal exchange rate, adjust accordingly)

  1. 3000
  2. 4000 (7 000)
  3. 5000 (12 000)
  4. 6000 (18 000) permacamo for Kansas [full doubloon cost 12,000 or $60] [[this is where the free grind ends]]
  5. 7000 (25 000)
  6. 20 000 (45 000) the actual premium ship Florida  [full doubloon cost 30,000 or $150]
  7. 25 000 (70 000) permacamo for Minnesota  [full doubloon cost 46 000 or $230]
  8. 30 000 (100 000) permacamo for Vermont [full doubloon cost 67,000 or $330]

Unless there is a huge stash of tokens that will be made available later, as far as I can see you can expect to get 20 000 tokens max from in game missions. Call it 18 000, 12 000 doubloons, or $60 credit against the full doubloon cost above)

Buying Florida this way will cost you almost $100 in real money, which is nearly double what it will cost in the premium shop outright once it becomes available. And you'll get a premium camo, probably one that isn't so ugly too.

Well, sure, if the stash of consumables WG bundles in is attractive for you, by all means be my guest. For everyone else though: just buy Florida later in the premium shop, or a premium camo for the ship of your choice. This isn't even a shadow of a discount.

I was only planning on getting the 'stars and strips' camo x20 for 1800 tokens (the other 2 for 1500 maybe), that to me looked like the best value for tokens. good camo always comes in handy.

But hey, I'm a cheap old so and so. :cap_old:

This is the best way to spend your tokens IMO.

Yeah. You can get Kansas for free by completing the objectives. Bit of a grind, but doable.

I’ll probably attempt to complete the directives so I don’t have to bother grinding Colorado again.

Havent decided what to do with the tokens yet.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I'll... be in Kansas... anymore... wait, random Wizard of Oz reference fail...

Ahem.

Even if I don't.

I'll be fine.

Slow boat to Narai has expees.

Yeah... I wish I already had that much XP on Colorado, but you know me, I love my premium BBs in Narai, like Sharnhorst and Nelson.

The commemorative permacamo is just ugly. I might consider the filling up the token deficit on the last day so that I don't even have to suffer the Colorado ever.

I already know where my chrismas money is going this year and it definately is not wows-nyo.

I agree, that perma camo is gross. I have spent ALL my tokens on ship girl badges instead. And when the event finishes up, the rest will be redeemed for credits. I'm beginning the grind for Kremlin today, so credits will come in handy when that is done. Plenty of time to the xmas snowflakes.

Yes, a riduclous amount of $$ for something that costs ~75k XP and 6M credits in game. (T7 Florida), something you can achieve for free** in a hanfull of matches with the right ships and flags. And as for Minnesota - anywhere between 1k and >60k dubs (and we all know which way RNG will favour). Even Chrisantos and Conway commented on the KOTS stream with Flambass about the ridiculuous Minnesota grab.

Up until the German carriers event, it was quite reasonable to get early access if you played a considerable amount of time, as it should be. I got dozens of basic and premium german cotainers and got zilcho CVs. Now WG have turned the USA BB event into an even bigger Piñata. Assume the Italian BBs will be even more onerous (should you want to get early access).

For the time I spend being entertained by WoWs, I don't mind chipping in $ now and then. But with stunts like this, well, no thanks.
