I bought the early bird discount when Odin was in the Dockyard. I think there was only one? 8K doubloons for 8 phases?

Interesting that Anchorage has two options - 3K for 2 phases or 8K for 8 phases.

I was keen to get some steel in Odin Dockyard so I actually bought more phases for doubloons.

But I'm not so keen on the Research points in Anchorage Dockyard so I think I will just buy the cheaper 2 phases straight up and grind out the directives.

I mean even if you whaled the whole ship, you would get only half the Research points for a Unique Upgrade... You would have to be a pretty fat whale and really REALLY want a specific UU to make THAT worth your while.

Anyway, I don't mind these grinds to be honest and I'm looking forward to sailing USS Anchorage.

Good luck and success to all in 0.9.8 however you play or seek to achieve!

Because research points can be obtained by earned easily, just reset tech tree and grind it through whereas steel is either in recurring missions/ranked/clan battles/containers/snowflakes which nowhere easy as research and grind

I don't think it's worth paying anything straight up, unless you really want the ship and don't think you'll be able to complete the directives in time, in which case the 8k one may be an option.  The 3k one is basically saving you 500 doubs by paying up front - but if you don't finish all the directives, you've either wasted those doubloons or you have to pay more, possibly a lot more.  It's really not worth the risk just to save 500 doubloons imo.

What isn't clear is if you are a player who hasn't unlocked the RB, but then unlock it by buying the 8k pack, if you can then start resetting lines even though you have yet to acquire five T10 ships...

Add to this what about people who cannot afford to buy the doubloons necessary to complete the phases.

I for one cannot do so which means there is no point for me trying to do the directives because even if i finish them I will still not be able to complete the last 2 phases necessary to get the ship.

This is just another "Premium" ship that I cannot buy.

I am sure there are other players out there who, like me, enjoy this game but are not in a position to purchase special items except by grinding out coal and steel.

If you have tier 10 (Tx) ships, you play 1 game and win that game, you will get super container (SC) free.

NOTE: Only available on 0.9.8 event.
NOTE: Can only obtain once. If you lose you can try again.

Supercontainer can drop 1,000 2,500 or 5,000 doubloons.

Its alright. I know the feeling of missing out if you are just starting out and have little to no high tier ships.

Alternatively, play casually.

Collect the economic flag and 100,000 FXP reward from phase 9 to phase 17. If you are up for it.

I still believe this discriminates against the financally disadvantaged players in the game.

I am not against people who are able to purchase the premium ships available ( I would purchase some myself if i could)

but why have an update with so much work to get almost to the end only to be told "sorry you cant finish it because you have no money so you get nothing for all your work"

you still get a lot of stuff from the campaign itself tho, and i kinda understand not wanting to just give away a decent T8 ship for free, the last time that happened it was with crate drops and the cossack but even then you might luck out and get it without paying, i had to spend a little bit to get her but i dont regret it one bit

I know that it can be frustrating to get to the end and not be able to complete the dockyard with 3500 doubloons. When I first learned about the dockyards, my brain connected them to battle passes available in other games. Normally, you have to pay to get any rewards from a battle pass. You get rewarded throughout every stage of our dockyard for free to stage 18, and if the Anchorage fits your playstyle and you really like the ship, you have the option to complete the dockyard for 3500 doubloons at the end.

Just for completing the first 18 stages (without finishing Anchorage) you get:

  • 7 gift containers
  • 80 special economic signals
  • 100,000 fxp
  • 15 Stars and Stripes camos
  • 4 days of premium time
  • 7,500 coal

Thank you guys for having this discussion. All of your feedback and feelings are completely valid, and I will be happy to share this with my team.

Being on a tight budget, what I would suggest is maybe get a Weekend Pass Doubloons deal in premium Shop. If you purchased one each weekend, which for me is about $5, that would give you 2 Days of premium and 500 doubloons. 7 weeks worth would cover the cost. There are are also chances to get doubloons from supercontainers.

And hope things get better for you Alien_Unleashed

Quite disappointed that dockyard 2.1 (Anchorage) did not have a free premium ship at phase 10 unlike dockyard 2.0 (Odin).

But Dockyard 2.0 (Odin) is way better compared to Dockyard 1.0 (Puerto Rico).

Many are still very unhappy and remember with how WG handled dockyard 1.0. And the unprofessional response from Lesta CEO just made things worse. No apology yet from them.

OOT, With Cossack we needed to buy the last token with $ although was very minor about $1 equivalent iirc. I think the aim was more to remove purchase entry barrier from most players. The theory is that after your first transaction (however the amount) it would be easier for players to make their 2nd and so on
