I doubt this is actually griefing.

CVs are considered one of the most influential ships in the game. It makes sense to take them out early (so long as you do not sacrifice too much doing so). So discussing tactics and strategy about how to do that is no different than discussing how to counter any other ship in the game.
 

No one complains about griefing BB players when you go into a battle with a div designed to burn them down. Nor does anyone say it’s deliberately griefing DD players if you go in a triple Radar div and time your radars in sequence.

Was it griefing when Yuro built that CV sniping div?

Ya, but according to a mod / WG staffer @ 1:20 in it is.

Really? From what I read, the staffer stated that griefing was not allowed, but did not specifically state that the subject was griefing.
More of a ‘Clarify the rules’ statement rather than an ‘interpretation of the rules’ statement.

From my point of view, someone asked “is X allowed”, and staffer answered “A is allowed, but B is not allowed” but did not specify if X came under A or B.

But I of course do not know the whole story. Possibly, there would be an argument for both, which would only be brought up if complaints came forward, mostly, I think the staffer was just issuing a warning to ensure commenters backed away from the edge.

Afterall, you are not targeting players, you are targeting a ship class. It’s impersonal. Whether it is griefing or not probably depends on how much of a donkey you are about it.

There's no griefing of a player ..  there is counter play to a ship class.

Discussing how to counter a ship class is ban-able?  thats just wierd.  Isnt discussing tactics and ship fits/counter fits and advice on forums the purpose of forums?

WG need to clarify this.
