WG seem to be adamant about "caliber progression" or whatever. They purged Kirov because it's 180 mm instead of 152, and the replacement has 152 mm guns. IJN 203 mm turrets (Takao-class) can actually elevate up to 70 degree upward. There is a slim chance that the IJN would think of 155 mm that can elevate that high up. And give them less than 10s reload because holy ships. Of course, I can't entirely rule out the possibility that the split will be CA - CL, but something like artillery - torpedo. And almost no ship in the current IJN line can torpedo strike very well, not even Zao. Yoshino, on the other hand... IJN torpedo cruisers can have 15 km Yuudachi torps and 20 km standard/DW torps. I too would like the IJN CL line will be torpedo-focused. Like you said, a torpedo focused cruiser is something we don't have yet.
