I found the replay folder on my computer but cannot play them back. Are they meant to be played back and what do you use to to view it?

You need to drag the specified replay file to world of warship.exe

Based on my experiences of NA instances, total exit from the game play and just double click on the replay file. Keep in mind that old replays will not compatible with new version

for example after the 0.9.5 patch update, any replays files in 0.9.4 and older will not be able to play

I've never had to do that. I double click on the replay file and it starts.

hmm i dont know, i just tried double clicking but still cannot

Update:

All right, it turns out you can double click the replay just that you might need to do this for 1 of the replay and the format will be done for all replay file

right click any of  replay file , look for "Open with" then "Look for another program" then locate the worldofwarship.exe and click OK, voila

All replay file and be opened by double clicking
