So.  Back on 20/3 WG gave us 14 days free premium as a gesture in the face of the COVID-19.  I genuinely applauded this.

I logged in, played a few games, then I started viewing some of the Petropavlosk reviews on Youtube.  Yes, I know they are WIP but still...  I ended up playing about 14 games total during my 14 days free premium.

Why?  Well, every time I look at the next totally fictitious AND totally unbalanced Russian content in the pipeline, all desire to play evaporates.  I start the launcher, stare at it for a few minutes then go play something else.

Yes, we all know WoWS is not a simulator.  But it IS a historically themed naval wargame spanning the 1st & 2nd World Wars.  While I don't expect complete historical accuracy, I do expect to be able to immerse myself in that milieu when playing.  And during that period, to be blunt, the Russian/Soviet navy was a complete joke.

So, the prospect that we will be facing teams where at least half the lineup consists of overpowered, fantasy ships pulled from some developers backsides to satisfy some adolescent onanistic urges is frankly a complete turnoff.  The mantra of go Russian or go home does not motivate me.  Why turn one of the few semi-decent historically inspired games into another fantasy game when there are plenty of better fantasy games to choose from...

Never mind the other blunders in recent times.  CV rework deemed a success because more people now play the dumbed down version of this class, which manages to be both utterly boring to play and intensely annoying to play against.  Never mind that they all but killed off the other most interesting class in the process.

Never mind pushing ahead with the RB/NTC obsession, in spite of overwhelming player opposition, to put unique upgrades behind a mind-numbing grind-wall.

I don't expect to play a great game for free.  I used to willing to buy premium time now and then to speed up a grind, or some doubloons to save credits on demounts.  I even bought a couple of premiums of actual historical ships that appealed to me, to use for credit earning or captain training purposes.

But I'm not spending anything on a game I don't want to play, and WOWS is on the brink of becoming exactly that, through a chain of utterly incomprehensible decisions.  Someone somewhere is probably wondering why player numbers are dropping and coming up with completely the wrong conclusions.

A CL with BC armour, low caliber BB guns but with special accuracy and ricochet angles.

The existence of CVs is supposed to be esoteric. Only a few can play them, and even fewer can make them work.

Their population right now makes the busted shared vision mechanic even more busted.

The Naval Trash Cove could have been many times better by removing the ship selling bullcrap, but gotta whale those whales!

WG just nerfed AP pen of Petropap and Rigor (Riga) in the most recent Dev Blog. How much of a nerf is unknown.

Flamuu once opened wowsft and Petropap has better AP pen than Alaska. That's simply impossible realistically speaking, and utterly BS as a game feature.

Also the anti-German sentiment is so strong, WG apparently don't even consider how much more money they could have made just by making good German ships.

I completely understand mate I really do but maybe you just need to take a break?

I often take breaks of around a month, that's my suggestion.

As for not spending any money, I was at that point after the PR debacle.

They need to pull their heads in and stop doing absurd nonsense, Kremlin (and the whole SN BB line), Stalingrad, Smolensk... Not to mention the CL/A rejig.

We're getting KM CVs before RM BB or DDs, what the hell!!!

Correct. If it wasn't a joke, they'd be protecting the Northern Route convoys better rather than waste RN to escort convoys to Murmansk.

Or break out from the Black Sea.

OR ANNOY THE IJN IN THE EAST.

So, yes, the soviet fleet is a complete joke.

Yet the Soviet ships in the game have some of the best gimmicks/strengths among their class and they are the most popular option in competitive plays, so... in order to have the best ships in WoWS one has to daydream harder and draw more unrealistic designs on paper back in the days, as WG will fulfill that nonsense daydream in the game and in the end it will rolfstomp other realistic designs/historical warships :Smile_hiding:

Maybe they want to save the best for last...just saying, cuz Italian lines are the only major historical lines not yet filled up so before running out of ideas they take paper lines to serve as stopgap, oh well no one understands WG's way of thinking tbh

Kind of surprise the bot disaster was not mentioned, it plagued the game for so long and WG's attempt to fix the problem are feeble, "28 and 15 accounts were taken measured of" since March & April, quite laughable eh? A lot of efforts/advice from the playerbase have been given and the reaction from WG takes so frigging long that I suspect they have a reflex arc of over a kilometer. A simple captcha might solve this temporarily but they aren't implementing it at all. I sincerely hope they show some attention to it on the next patch, or else maybe a riot? idk

No there are a lot more...

Commonwealth DDs easily get to T10. If we go to a T7-T8 standard (which most lines in game do) you could get Commonwealth CLs, IJN CLs, and any number of RN or USN splits, not to mentions CV splits for USN or IJN.

And instead they pick paper German CVs  over all of this¯\_(ツ)_/¯ the amount of paper design obsession they have is nuts. Btw thanks for pointing those possibilities out

On the roller coaster ride of the winning and losing streaks day by day and nothing has been done to change or improve the Matchmaking. Leaves me a sour taste when your team loses like 9 ships in 6mins and ive not even fired a salvo nor lost a health as i sail silently avoiding the onslaught and watching how bad my team is making all the worst mistakes you can possibly do. Palm to the face and asking yourself how much more of this can i endure.

I didn't take a screen grab but I won something like 80+% of my 30+ games yesterday...

Just thought I'd add that to balance the scales a little... :cap_cool:

Lol whenever I break, it's either half a year or 10 month. Since every time i play the game, WG just decide to do some ridiculous thing and well i just quit the game even go as far as delete them since I know I wont be touching it for who know until when. Then maybe something like Azur lane or something that rekick the urge of WW2 fan in me and I kinda play the game again.

Yeah well that's what I did when WoT started going down the toilet.  And very time I considered returning, they came up with an even stronger reason to stay away.  I haven't played that absurdity since.

And the sheer lunacy continues.
