IJN Cruiser Turret Armour...

After getting my Atago turrets knocked out too easily by a Cleveland, I went and had a look at the armour schematics in port.

To my surprise, the turrets only have 25mm all around. What kind of witchery reduced them to tissue paper? All IJN cruisers have seriously thin armour on the turrets against everything else. Can someone else please check and see if it's just my install or if WG screwed the IJN cruisers over?

That's how Japanese heavy cruisers has been built in real world history as a result of the Japanese school of naval architecture's philosophy.

Certain classes and ships have their armour schemes proven in battle (to be either effective or ineffective). A lot of armour schemes are just paper fantasy.inparticularsovietbias.

I remember Furutaka Roof turret was actualy very paper thin. 

one of IJN officer jokingly said, His handgun can penetrate it from range of 3 arm lenght (around 5 meter)

Indeed it is only 25 mm historically. I believe the Japanese only make it splinter-proof in order to save weight for their already overweight cruisers (And i think that's why they able to squeeze ten 8 inch guns in five twin turrets, as opposed to nine in triple turrets).

Still, most ships are schematics only in this game so why not just make them competitive. My love for the IJN cruisers is gone now sadly, I will just have to admire them in port.

IJN Cruiser is Ninja, they dont mean to be spotted or even get shot. they are not suit my playstyle but most people use concealed tactic and ambush to play them.
