So my wife working from home day 3 is going AWESOMELY !!!!!

Yesterday Im banished to my office at the other end of the house cause im apparently to noisy and distracting for her work environment... TODAY its "honey we need a new printer cause your old one doesnt scan and I need to scan for work".. so off to Office Works on "essential Business" I am dragged... said new printer is brought home where my youngest son and I spend a wonderful 30 mins of father son pandemic bonding time setting it up, connecting to wireless networks, making sure her work laptop etc is connecting and printing ( thank gawd for rum)

So all afternoon Im enjoying the lovely hum of said new printer and regular visits from my wonderful darling wife every few mins collecting printouts (thank gawd I dont have pornhub open).. inevitably some scanning needs to be done "honey can you set up my lap top so I can use the new scanner" so off i toddles for more unpaid personalised IT support work only to find her laptop is admin locked and drivers for scanning cant be installed by me .. "honey... (eye lids fluttering coyly) I need to get these docs scanned urgently.." "sigh yes darling" .. so drivers get installed onto MY Gaming Rig (yay more unpaid IT support work ) which invariably sees me kicked off my PC (after more personalised and free IT Support to assist her in learning how the scanner works )... As said scanning is being done "honey I dont like your keyboard ..." (mutter grumble mutter works fine for my fat fingers ) " BUT i LOVE your dual monitor set up... maybe I should kick you out and use your office instead of timmies ......"

Thank gawd we have rum

Well I’m still having issues with my screens connecting and email not working and IT won’t call me back because they’re busy.

And everything’s slow because my home network is slow AF.

Going to be a fun 6 months.

Though someone on ABC said that if we lock everyone down HARD now, we could be back to some semblance of normal in less than a month. So seriously, everyone stay home.

There is a huge risk in rushing OUT of a lock down. Ok infections may drop off during the course a lock down BUT given commentary that there could be significant numbers of asymptomatic carriers then rushing out of a lock down before theyre identified isolated and treated just begs the whole cycle to start again. Current testing kits are few and far between and atm rely on a cumbersome and time consuming process for analysis. The new South Korean and even UK kits offer a distinct possability that testing can be sped up, but the problem will be manufactuering capacity. If we can procure enough on teh open market Im hoping that someones talking licensing and local manufcaturing.

Great story on the new normal meta

I am getting;  honey can you get off the game , I think your slowing down my internet - grumbles 'sure'

Also getting kids to do 'home' schooling, well that also a different challenge - Not sure I could last 6 months

Plus my beloved league is gone !

Oh well carry on and remember all this to tell the grandkids when they ask ; What did u do during the Great Pandemic - hhmmm

But seriously I know people are hurting and Ive lost work for 6 months but we will get thru this.

Working from home can be quite challenging.

I have Fixed wireless, so I don't have any problems with connectivity.

The hardest part is trying not to log on and fit in a few games while I'm supposed to be working.....

Procrastination can also be a problem....

Badluck mate!

I'm on 3 days a week at home on the work laptop, no scanning or printing required...

Plus side is because I don't have 50 people interrupting me a day, I get 1/2 a weeks work done in a morning and then get to do constructive/destructive things (ohhhhhh you all know...)

I also know I will not lose my job either.   I feel sorry for anyone who is going through that at the moment.

Yes, I can be thankful that I still have my job, Being an “essential service” of sorts, and that I can do it from home.

Won't be losing mine soon either.

But my thoughts are with those who are in a bad place right now.

Don't ever be afraid to reach out and talk to somebody. Every little bit helps......

I won't be losing my casual job either, being an essential service providing animal fodder to pet shop wholesalers. Plus my newstart top up will be getting quite a boost as well. I will be able to buy a new gaming chair now as opposed to using the worn out old IKEA office chair for my essential tasks (like blowing up pixel boats) 😇.

Seriously, a lot of people who have never needed the dole before are about to get a little indoctrination to the bullshite that is centrelink. Hopefully for their sakes they are able to be working again before the temporary measures end, because then life will really turn to shite big time. I get by because I own my house outright and the missus gets a carers pension for our 3 autistic kids. I'm also autistic (nobody knew it was a thing when I was a kid and we didn't know it was a thing until the youngest was 4 - otherwise there would not have been any kids).

PS. Anyone listen to Ozzies new album yet? I have it cranked right now.

Well for the moment I'm glad to be working from home but I know the feeling about what's going on lately out there, lots of things going on but in some ways its good to be out of the commotion that's happening out there.

Its a real shame that we are getting close to full lockdown though but as long as we have the Internet operating at the best performance it can do, that's great for now.

This should be in the off-topic section lol.

But yeah I am working from home with my company laptop.

I miss the dual monitors at my office workstations but I am grateful I still have a job which can be done from home, and the particular industry I am in isn't really affected by the outbreak so I won't have to worry about retrenchments or the company going under.

I know a lot of other people aren't as lucky.
