The communication states as follows:

Commanders,

Over the last few years, we’ve been constantly updating the Wargaming Game Center (WGC) to enable us to deliver the ultimate player experience. Some of you have been on this journey with us, and have witnessed the WGC becoming not only a game-launching platform, but also an important communication tool that delivers the latest game news, updates, and special events.

While there is always room for improvement, we’re delighted with what has been achieved and how WGC is currently performing.

If we look at the numbers—in 2019 we carried out 24 major updates, touching on functionality, user-experience, and the game login system. All these updates have shaped the Wargaming Game Center into the form we’ve come to appreciate so much.

So, what’s next?

We would encourage you to join the enormous community of players on the WGC, if you haven’t joined them in using it already, as more updates and cool news are on the way.

Meanwhile, we would like to let everyone know the following: starting from May 20, we’ll no longer support the Launcher due to technical reasons. This means that the Launcher will no longer be available for download for those who might be inclined to log in to the game that way. All players currently using the Launcher will automatically be moved to the WGC.

After the transition, all players—no matter whether you’ve switched to the WGC or not—will be granted some amazing in-game items.

Communication ends:

As a Legacy Launcher player I rarely get bugs on the game. It's stable, it eats little resources, and AV does not treats it as malware.

This is also the reason why many CIS players have left the game in WoT. There is a 600+ page in the CIS forum, telling WG about their bad experience about WGC or the staff is not supportive on their technical issues or their machines can not keep up with the sheer amount of resources WGC eats. WG ignores all and tells everyone how glorious their WGC is. And we are all just scared of change.

The last time I installed the WGC, bricked my PC. Twice. The experience is horrible.

Anyways, its not like WG is going to listen to the community or playerbase if what they do is a mistake.

WG decision making is not at its best. Especially when they implemented NTC/RB and PR grind.

*sigh* ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So basically... we have to get used to close the WGC first once the port is loaded unless  they have fixed it (something which I doubt).

I do not know what's on their mind with all these compulsory upgrades. I mean not everyone has the high-end PC to begin with. In short, WG is pushing the poor out from the game, probably because WG doesn't consider them to be beneficial for their income?

Basically, yes. On all your points. 😞

It is also the reason why many CIS players jumped ship. They can not afford high end PC's.

WGC? Mine is fine. Maybe I'm just using the right laptop.

The WGC will automatically close itself once you launch the game. I don't know about WG forcing player to upgrade their PC/ laptop. Maybe yes? But mine's are low end laptop but I upgrade the RAM to 8 gigs.

Never had a single issue with WGC before and I'm only using a 5 yr old low-end laptop.

You must have done something right.

I had issues last year.

What are your PC/Laptop specs? What are the game settings? What AV are you using and does it cry "malware"?

I may try it again, but if it does give me issues, I will first seek technical help. If all else fails, guess I might be done.

An old 4th gen i5 with 1.6-2.6Ghz Freq. 8GB RAM, Radeon HD 8670M discrete GPU and also, a SSD (it really helps a lot). I have no AV installed since Windows 10 already has one and it's effective.

WG : WoWs is AAA game that only $$ player playing it..... The WGC require high Spec and also our recent graphic upgrade will kick em all

Whale & Shark : WG, we think we should keep the number of small fish to prey

WG : WoWs is competitive game, therefore shark and whale should do battle royale

*Player base drop

WG : UNLEASH THE BoTs!

All are within WoWs system requirements.

Why does WGC brick mine while others are ok? :cap_hmm:

Eventhough my system is slightly higher specification with the exception of SSD. I still use HDD.

As for AV, mine is Bitdefender.

It gives error message (I forgot since it was a year ago), and my PC slows down or hangs entirely.

Mine is even older at 7 years old. Intel core i3 1.8 Ghz. 8GB (previously 4GB), Nvidia gt 720m, Windows 7 and still uses HDD. My AV is Avast.

Are you sure it's always WGC's fault? Maybe you have viruses, excessive waste in your disk, or outdated drivers. Perhaps scanning with Ccleaner might help. Are you regularly check if there's something wrong with your PC?

WGC. An error message and then slowdown or hang after the error message.

I doubt it. It was newly built Windows 10. Clean built.

AV did warn me that WGC is a malware. But that was 1 year ago.

I rebuilt the OS twice. The WGC installation gave me error message then slowdown or hang after the error message.

I regularly scan and check my computer. Lately I install very few things.

Anything I know I did not install is instantly removed and deleted, delete the registry, and AV scan. Delete the stragglers.

So far Bitdefender has been very alert and any attempt of forced installation or suspicious activity, the AV blocks.

As for additional safety measure, I cut my internet and see what or how much passed through the AV defense.

I think Steam launcher is better than WGC

Agreed.

WGC is WG's attempt to make a client like Steam, Battle.net, Origin. But with very poor programming, poor understanding, and poor implementation.

I wonder what will happen to WoWs on steam? I think they use legacy launcher on steam client(?).
Correct me if I am wrong on this one.

I haven't encountered any problems with WGC ever since I was forced to install it for the CV rework TST (wow how fast time flies). Maybe I got lucky.

My system specs:

OS: Windows 10

CPU: Intel i7-6700k 4.00Ghz

RAM: 16GB

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 980Ti

AV: Norton Internet Security

I have both SSD and HDD, but my WoWs stuff is installed on the HDD. The SSD is just for the OS and web browsing.

So you didn't manage to install WGC at all? That's strange.

For what its worth you don't actually have to keep WGC running when playing the game. Once you log into WoWs you can alt-tab out and manually close WGC from the task bar with no issue.

I hate WGC

EVERY patch update I always stuck at "2.5 mb (or a few mb)to download" for like... half a day.

every major update, it take 4-6 hour to complete.

I have to postpone update and pick the time when I'm about to go to sleep or work to not waste time waiting.

I'm I the only one have this problem????

I guess is it use torrent type of download

it intentionally pause your download, extend your update time to make you peer/seed the update file as long as possible.

ps. I use Acer nitro 5

Nope. :Smile_hiding:

I still use legacy launcher till this day.

Previously, I have dual boot between Win7 and Win10. I rebuilt everything when I got extra HDD and started to learn linux, and since Win7 support ended in January, I might as well reclaim everything.

Upon rebuilding I might as well try WGC, I think it was Russian BB event, but gave me an error message and slowed / hanged my PC. Happened 2 times.

So I really had such a bad experience with WGC that I am very scared to use it.

I need some tutorial, guide, tips, and tricks on how to use the WGC. I hear that, that thing is a resource hog like Akagi / Yamato. If it is OK I may need help from the community when I plan to move to WGC?

For now I plan to hold on to legacy launcher for a bit longer. Like Win7.

Your system is better.

OS: Windows 10

CPU: Intel i5-6500k

RAM: 16GB

GPU: Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Windforce 3

AV: Bitdefender Internet Security

Storage: 1TB HDD x5, 500 GB x1

The other 4 are Linux, and 1 - 500 GB HDD as guinea pig drive (where VMware can not replicate).

Also, does copy pasta method work in WGC?

And does the "launch via exe" method still work?

Holy cow. That's almost the same time it takes to install the game, fresh, via legacy launcher.

For updates it takes around 1 to 2 hours.

I get around 500 - 800. I think it is m/s? I think this is megabits per second?

I.T. has so many things that I can't remember everything. Please do correct me if I am wrong.

I honestly thought this change had been mandated anyways, or was that WoT? Either way I've had WGC for something around 18 months.

In those early months there were still bugs, issues, etc that I noticed WGC users get all the time that others didn't. This has been less and less of an issue over the last 12 months.

It doesn't use that much for system resources, however if you are worried about the resources it's using it is sadly time for an upgrade. And I know that sounds patronising but bear with me.

If your system is running Warships or any game you play on minimum specs (or close to it) you are sadly in a serious minority gamer-wise, world wide and that minority will only get smaller. I know it may be very hard to get a newer system but not being able to run this game in future should not be a surprise and is something that you should be planning for if you want to keep playing.

I have a few guys in my clan that this is a serious issue for, one friend of mine for years was running the game on a mac at 10fps... A mutual friend basically asked around for spare computer parts and built him an average machine, he was so stoked at how good it was, he slowly upgraded his system with his own money.

The point I'm getting at is the world keeps moving on and getting more advanced, even the current pandemic won't stop it. So if you are going to have issues with WGC, I'd start saving for an upgrade or making plans as to how you'll get one.

For those that can't, that sucks and I really hope that it isn't because you struggle to put food on the table or a roof over your head. Goodluck and I hope things get better and even moreso given the current economic and health climate.

Honestly, I thought it was already forced upon us.

In my case, the WGC does not close itself. It only minimized to the taskbar. And it still consumes a lot of memory.

I think my specs are similar to CIS players, or just slightly better at best:

Spoiler

OS - Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64 bit
CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E8400 3.00 Ghz
RAM - 4 GB
GPU - Nvidia GeForce GT 730
Storage - 2x 500 GB HDD
Antivirus - Spyhunter

The game actually ran well with the legacy launcher. But the recent HDR Lighting updates murdered my GPU.

Funny thing is; my problems with the WGC are the same as what happened to @S0und_Theif although my specs are obviously lower.

So yes I have been playing the game on a potato, but the potato still ran the game at 50-60 fps at low settings. So I might have to take some pride about it:Smile_trollface:
