  1. 1. 1. How's your experience in your 15 inch guns armed battleship like after the update? Especially when shooting cruisers.

    • Still powerful, the guns still hit hard
      12
    • Noticeable more shatters and bounces now...

After the update most of the high tier cruisers' plating armor are buff to 27 mm, which means that 15 inch shells and below will be bounced.

Initially I thought this is a serious handicap to 15 inch armed battleships but currently, I did not notice a too much difference when driving my Alsace and Jean Bart, maybe the reason is their french guns have some of the best penetration and shell velocity among all 15 inch battleship. And I am kind of patient when it comes to waiting the cruisers to show their broadside.

May I know how this change affects other battleships such as Tirpitz, Roma, Monarch and Bourgogne? As they have different guns or faced different tiers.

Basically it means you don't overmatch but despite all of the hoo-ha about overmatch, you can still perform without it, and even with AP.

People just need to learn how to aim, just because someone is angled well doesn't mean AP is useless, just means you need to aim a bit higher...

Yep, the shells can still penetrate the bow and citadels of cruisers so its not the end of the world, but way less lolpen occasions for now

380mm guns are now much weaker than before, especially in Tier 8 and 9. By overmatching 25 mm plating, 380 mm guns used to get the capability of dealing large amount of damage to cruisers before 0.9.2. Now these guns are bouncing a lot while dealing with running cruisers, just like how 406 guns hehave in Tier 10.

Lol, no.

Half of folks using 381s have been using HE a lot anyways despite not needing to.

By aiming better even with AP you can still do fine. If you are relying on overmatch to get reliable damage scores there's something wrong.

That's the reason I install the navigator mod, it helps so much for smaller caliber ships in ammo selection and timing their shots. From my experience since the update I think that 15 inch guns now cannot shoot in a trigger happy way but it still rewards when you catch the opportunities. Playstyles of those battleships have to be adapted and revised.

On the other hand, heavy cruisers got to play around with their now "thiccer" plating armor, managed to rush a nearly full hp Bismarck in my Amalfi today and uppercut him with the torps, he plays his ship like in the old days: kept going for the citadel /central section hit instead of aiming for nose/wait for me unmasked my torp tubes, I managed to bait his shots and bounced them with the upper belt and sunk him. In the past I will be forced to flee and kite but the new update provide a new tactic for cruiser players to use.
