Memory Leak?

Recently the game has been slowing to a crawl after playing a few games for me and has crashed with a couple of times with "unable to load resource" errors. Checking resources just now I found the game using 6.8 gigs of memory and rising while I was just sitting in the port screen. Anybody else getting this?

(Running on Windows 7)

I'm on Win 10 64 bit. Having no such issues. Game is using around 3.1 GB of memory for me.

I do remember back when I first started playing WOWS I was on Win 7 64 bit OS on my previous PC and I recall having memory leak related game crashes. It seemed to go away after a few patches. Game has changed a lot since way back then anyway. Unfortunately WG cannot test every single hardware and OS combination available and small numbers of players will get things like this from time to time.

Win 7 is well over 10 years old now and is no longer officially supported by Microsoft, unless you paid for extended support on the Pro or Enterprise editions.

I cannot speak for your personal situation but I would look at checking if all my hardware was able to run on Win 10 and look to upgrade to that OS.

I've narrowed it down to the Naval Battle screen (and presumably the internal Chromium browser that WOWS uses). I was running around 3 Gigs of memory until I went to the Naval Battles page at which point the memory usage jumped to 6.8 Gigs in about 10 seconds.

It's possible. You can check by playing a few games without doing anything else; don't go to your clan page, the premium shop, armory or anything. Just login, play a few games and stay in port in between. If that seems okay, then try going to your clan page and more specifically the Naval Battle page. That's where the memory leak really kicks in and, if you have the same problem I do, you will probably notice the game start to freeze up almost right away.

There is a patch that has been released here and it seems to have fixed the problem for me.

A more accurate way to check is to use Window's task manager to monitor WOWS memory usage but if you're not familiar with it I don't want to confuse the issue.

The patch linked in the above post will successfully fix the problem. After applying the patch, I tested it across all tabs and screens, clan profiles, player profiles, etc.

No problems encountered. Cross checking with Task Manager revealed no memory leaks of the nature I was previously encountering.
