Operation Narai - lead transport weird behaviour.

In recent times the lead transport heads out on a suicide mission straight into the enemy guns about 50% of the time - what's going on? There is absolutely no strategic reason to do this (there are no docks in that direction), and it is almost impossible to protect from such suicidal actions. Can someone look into the programming that causes this? It didn't happen in the past.

3 times in the last 4 attempts. The first 2 times it happened we lost the missions. Both fail missions I ended up being the solo warrior trying to fend off the entire red team in the harbour area. Teams have been melting fast. The third time I sailed out and blocked the damn ship with my Scharnhorst and managed to save it for 4 stars.

This problem has been happening for quite a while actually in the other Operations as well.

I am guessing it is related to the autopilot changes introduced a few months back.

I put in a report last week and got this back. They have reported it to the devs, so we just have to wait for them to do something....

CLOSED

Dear Grygus_Triss,

I want to inform you that I have submitted your information to the Development Team for further investigation.
If the problem is confirmed, it will be fixed.

We apologize for any inconvenience this can cause.

If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Best regards,

I have played dozens of battles in the operation Narai over the past month and more.
It has become increasingly difficult to get 5-Star, because the lead transport does not park and start unloading troops like it has in the past. Instead, it keeps moving forward, towards the enemy reinforcements, often getting killed, losing the team 1 star (Protect the lead transport).
Most recent replay where this happens attached.
This has been happening for weeks. Please look into it.

They already said on the NA forums that Narai is getting pulled with 9.1 to fix the issues. No ETA on when t'll return.

If all the team members can corporate well and push fast enough, we can manage to kill all the enemy reinforcements and get 5 stars while all the transports are still on the way to parking harbour. However, this requires heavy firepower, good communication, and plenty of experience.

And this is nowhere stated on these forums. Good communication Wargaming, prepare for lots of "WTF happened to Narai? when will it be back?!" messages.

This will also put a crimp in grinding for London, so I hope they bring it back soon, and don't just put in in "abyss of old operations".

ITs the only time I use my T7 Premiums!! Social Wolves would be lost without it!

Yes, I am slightly annoyed at this news...

While that isn't detrimental to the overall victory, it's surely annoying to see. And yes, it's not a problem a while ago, where the AI ships sailed as they should. But now they do.

I hope they add new Operations or re-add old ones that got removed  :Smile_hiding: And allow all nations to join Hermes/Cherry Blossom...

Yes I have had this happen many times also in Narai. Seem to recall the Richelieu BB you were escorting would run aground and get stuck quite regularly in Hermes too.

Had one of the transports go berserk and get stuck in aegis too, but that has only happened the once.

Mr Conway keeps saying "No new scenarios. It is not the primary focus."

However, no one asked if they will bring back old operations, so bringing back the old operations is 50 / 50. This I can look forward.

And I am with @Paladinum on the "no nation lock" for Hermes and Cherry Blossom.

Honestly, I have not, nor given a crap about the idiotic transports in Narai. So long as you go ahead of the convoy to wipe out everything that is of annoyance, THERE IS NO PROBLEM.

I've seen transports beach themselves, wander the backfield and merrily sail into the enemy fleet.

I like dejiko_nyo's comment that an aggressive and coordinated team can head off the battle before the transports get themselves into trouble. But not all random teams know what to do.

I haven't tried this myself, but maybe once the stray is identified, someone can physically block them from running into the line of fire. They do maneuver and there is a battle ongoing but that might save a star.

Care to talk to those BB, cruisers, all only rush to the Transport or CV , no one care to tank the Missouri for the convoy and everyone want others to go in first facing that HE Spamming from the Cruiser and DD on first wave inside that final area ... seen too many of those ...

Well Narai has been removed from the ops rotation until it gets fixed. SubOctavian has said this will be for 2 patches. If it is actually back and fixed by the 3rd patch I will be genuinely impressed.

WG's track record of just not caring about ops when so many players are asking for them does not instill me with a large amount of hope.

I hope it is not just Narai that is fixed, because this problem occurs on the other Operations as well. It is pretty obvious in Newport too.

Hi Captains!

Apologies for the delay in the communication regarding Narai.
We will be pulling Narai in 0.9.1 to fix technical issues to be brought back in the future update.
The information on the portal on update 0.9.1 has been also updated with this news.

Unfortunately, we currently do not have the information when Narai will be back in the game but we anticipate around 1-2 patches.
We will inform you regarding the update when we have more information.

Thank you for your patience and see you on the High Seas!

@Nya_gaming And thanks for keeping the players updated.

BTW, what is broken is the game's scoring system and over-reliance on damage. Narai exemplifies this by the fact that the 5 transports are worth so much for zero risk. Real men go for the CV + phoenix + niconiconi on their own.

While I agree that Sharnhorst is awesome in Narai, it’s my go to ship, and with 19pt captain, easy elite captain xp.

But I disagree with using it, or any other BB for that matter, for going after CV.

While it can work with a fast BB like Sharn, and it’s useful to get to the entrance to flank the incoming enemy, I find that it takes a BB out of the fight for too long. You need that Armour up front going into the bay first to absorb incoming fire and wreck the enemy with your secondaries. BBs in general should stay ahead of the convoy and attract fire. A quick firing CL is best for CV (like Flint, Belfast, Atlanta or Fiji).

And don’t get me started on BBs who go after the transports.

Man, I'm gonna missed Narai's borked AI. Was still good anyway if people know what they are doing and majority rush down and kill everything in sight before your escorts even arrive at dock. 🤣
