Yamato's specialty is the ability to pretend her AP is HE with 32mm overmatch. But the thing is theres nothing with 33mm to 35mm plating to overmatch with 510mm.

You also give up Yamato's volume of fire that can be used to dunk AP into the 32mm sections of enemy BBs.

And currently a number of players are depressed that her current specifications sucks, and what's more she is incorrectly named: Japanese battleships since the age of dreadnoughts should be named after ancient feudal provinces of Japan, while "A-type" cruisers, including battlecruisers, heavy cruisers and hypothetically large cruisers should be named after mountain peaks in Japan.

So it would be incorrect to name a battleship of the 1940s as Yashima.

I didn't get the DLC, so mine was a bog-standard Kuma. 

Also I am reminded that Battlestations is a great game where you can switch back and forth between controlling planes and ships, not like a certain other WWII naval warfare game...
