((This would be my final dev blog report and sooner blogs will be at the RU forums thread.))

A researchable European Tier I cruiser, Tier II-X destroyers, as well as a European special Tier X destroyer ‘Småland’ will be added to the game in the upcoming super test session. Polish, Austro-Hungarian and Swedish ships are among them.

Currently, the concept of European destroyers brings the following features:

  • Very fast torpedoes with relatively low damage and long range;
  • Artillery is similar to that of American destroyers: quite effective in close combat but weaker than that of artillery-focused destroyers;
  • The speed of the new destroyers is relatively low: 35 knots at Tiers VII — X. It can be increased by an Engine Boost consumable found in a dedicated slot, giving a standard bonus of 8%;
  • Starting from Tier VII, the AA defense of European destroyers has a large area of effect and deals good damage;
  • Presence of Repair Party: at Tiers V — VIII it is the same as on British destroyers, and at Tiers IX and X this consumable will be active for 4 seconds longer;
  • Starting from Tier VIII, ships are equipped with Surveillance Radar in a dedicated slot. It has an action time of 15 seconds and a range of up to 7.5 km;
  • Lack of Smoke Generator and relatively high detection range: when fighting with other destroyers for key areas it’s better to rely on Surveillance Radar and torpedoes.

The scrappy torpedo damage makes me giggle.

I assume sooner or later WG will have to adjust the torpedo specs.

I must agree that there are too many Swede ships lol

Where's Admiralen, Regele Ferdinand, Psara, Gerard Callenburgh, improved Blyskawica, etc.? All of these are unique designs.

The T7 in the line is a paper and that's unnecessary. Just copy and paste the Blyska!

Swedish dds will be DIY assembly. They will come in pieces and you have you use hexagonal wrenchs to put them together.

Might be we can have Finnish DD , after all the Finns never build any during the period so we should really give them a slot on the paper ship roster, right.

Since when did British DDs get those heals other than Jutland & Daring?

So PE DD's will be slow, have poor concealment, no smoke, below average gun dpm with poor shell arcs, low numbers of fast torps with terrible damage, 7.5km 15s radar, pretty decent repair consumable from T5 up, very good AA.  I would hope the AA is superb if they are going to be slow with poor concealment and no smoke - otherwise they will be absolute food for CV's.

Also, radar on DD's is never a good thing for the game imo - look what radar did to PA DD's, they went from being quite good and fun to being completely destroyed because of that consumable.

A note on the torps, they do AWFUL damage. At T4-7 they do 7533 damage. T8-10 does 10700 damage - but the T9-10 torps do 86kts though, and have 15km range.  Reloads are pretty good, with the T9 looking like it will be the best torp boat in the line. 69s reload with all buffs applied, 8 torps per salvo - same as Z-46 and Z-52.  I think it's odd that the supposed T10 "torp boat" version has 8 torps per salvo, while the standard T10 has 10 of the exact same torps per salvo with the same reload time - I know it has better concealment, but with 86kt 15km torps you don't really need concealment.

Overall I would say that they are underpowered as is, but most new ship lines start this way. No doubt the changes will be coming, we'll see how they end up...

Serious thoughts:

+ T3 all the way to 10 are all Swedes. How is this a sensical decision is basically eldritch knowledge to me. T7 is definitely a paper ship while WG can put the improved Grom-class in there. There are so many good designs IRL and somehow WG picked all Swedes? This is bizarre.

+ German Hydro instead of Radar is a better idea IMO. DAAF in the same slot as Speed Boost.

+ Torpedo range can be reduced quite a bit. T9 and T10 probably have too much range and too fast. I'd like to see the torp range reduced so the ships can be spammy torpedo boats. Deal next to no damage but the continuous barrage may be a good tactic to keep enemies out of a cap.
T5: from 9 to 8 km.
T6: from 10 to 8,5 - 9 km.
T7 and 8: from 12 to 10,5 km. From 76 to 68 knots.
T9 and 10: from 15 to 13,5 km. From 86 to 80 knots.
All tiers: slightly reduced reload time.

+ The torpedo launcher layout of some ships may get changed later: Romulus (to 2x3) and Östergötland (to 2x4). This would hurt the 'authenticity' (lol) of the designs but IMO will improve gameplay.

+ Concealment on par with French DDs, this is not exactly a bad thing. The speed is kinda meh though.

+ T9 has the same HP pool as Kagero. That will not sit well.

Expecting these to have high skill ceiling: can't cap early, slow, large concealment, etc.

Also the high tiers are all sub hunters IRL AFAIK. Because of this, they are extremely escort-focused and don't really fit charging forward.

The torpedoes on these ships are the even more extreme version of German DDs torps: even lesser damage, even faster, even longer range, even faster reload. I'll spec one into full torp build for sure.
91 knots torps, LUL.

Radar on DDs, really WG? As though the game needs more radar.

The only saving grace is the ships' poor concealment and the relatively short duration of the radar, otherwise they will be the ultimate cap bullies like the Black.

Also, radar on DD's is never a good thing for the game imo - look what radar did to PA DD's, they went from being quite good and fun to being completely destroyed because of that consumable.

Precisely. Good AA plus radar? Nobody, neither CV nor DD, will want to risk themselves spotting these things.

German Hydro instead of Radar is a better idea IMO.

Yeah hydro is a better idea. Matches the current Friesland too.
