It depends on what kind of class you like to play. As Ralph mentioned there is Atlanta at T7 which is very good at shooting down planes, but is a light cruiser which isn't everybody favourite play-style. Then you could get something like Massachusetts the T8 US BB that has good AA and a ship on which many of your captain skills for the most common build would also help make your AA better. If you prefer DDs then Kidd at T8 is very good against aircraft. At the same time non premium ships like Akizuki, because of the type of guns it has is also capable. As a rule US cruisers have good AA and access to the DFAA consumable so they are always a safe choice.

Atlanta: BFT+AFT ofc. It deletes planes very fast.

also

Huanghe, if you're on that kind of stuff. Most of aft guns are AA.

Basically most of the American ships in those tiers.

Some others are:

Akizuki

Edinburgh (has no Def AA, but can score more than 30 planes against same tier CVs)

Hipper (swap Hydro with Def AA)

Scharnhorst (only works with full AA build, swap spotter plane with fighter)

Here are my suggestions:

Battleships:T6 P.E.Friedrich

T7 Hood,Gneisenau,Scharnhorst(of course,Germany battleships are very afraid of AP bombers)

T8 all USS battleships,Bismarck

Cruisers:T6 Huanghe

T7 Atlanta,Helena,Flint

T8 Cleveland,Baltimore,Wichita

Destroyers:T6 Monaghan

T7 Sims,Mahan

T8 Kidd,Akizuki,Prinz eugen,Irian

Also if u wanna make a div with your cv friend.I think friesland will be the best choice :)

Actually from my experience, most cruisers and half the dds in those tiers have good AA at those two tiers. This is speaking from the point of view of I) the shooter and II) the shot. The "rework" reworked how AA damage is delivered and ships with nasty flak can decimate whole squadrons if RNG is there. Also, properly spaced cluster of mediocre AA ships is better than a single good AA ship.

Pre 0.8 ,what made a good AA ship was the total rating AND DFAA which chewed things down fast and screwed up the aiming.

Most aircraft carriers have reasonable anti-aircraft firepower including both fighters and consumable.

This is probably the most sane and correct comment about CV I have seen in a while.
