Do you look for specific AA DPS amounts? (far, medium, near). And is getting AA mod 1 (+2 explosions from long-range AA) really worth it? I've been wanting to build a ship for AA, but I don't know where to start, lol. Thanks in advance for all your help!

Flak cloud dmg not overlaped, but it will make flak zone wider anyway full AA build is not worthed. The more you invest the less you get also for AA BFT > AFT. The range allows you to protect allies, and also puts pressure on the CV player to conduct strikes quickly otherwise they would lose more planes. The +2 flak is important too. It can mean the difference between leaving a gap wide enough in the flak that planes can slip through and having a flak wall that CV players cannot dodge. Also more time the CV is dodging your flak, the more damage their planes are taking from constant dps aura, and the less time they have to properly set up their strike. For the tier 9 AA upgrade, it is the single most powerful AA related thing you can get, but you do have to give up a lot of other useful upgrades like main battery reload though. Captain skill wise, BFT is the most useful AA skill followed by AFT. But imo AFT is not worth the points if you are using it for AA alone though. The Fearsome AA skill is only really useful on ships with poor AA to begin with, and even then it is not worth the points imo. If your ship has a catapult fighter, taking the 1 point catapult fighter skill might be useful, but be warned that catapult fighters are a bit of a hit-or-miss. Your mileage may vary with them.
