Game Constantly Crashing

Hello there!

I've recently purchased a Sapphire Nitro+ RX 5700 XT for a new gpu.

Came back to WoWS to see how it would perform in the game.

At first it ran fine, played for maybe around 2 hours.

Played again last night and the game constantly crashes not even an hour into running. It has happened to me in battle, or as early as even just looking at the tech tree 5-10 mins after starting the game.

Initially the crash would make both my screens (I have 2 monitors) turn black and it would require a reboot.

I ran the game in x64 just today and it still crashes, although the need for a reboot has vanished and I just crash to desktop. I looked at Task Manager and the game isn't even being reported as Not Responding. There was an error reported one time, but there was no error log for me to look at.

Is this something normal with AMD cards and drivers?

I'm currently on their Adrenalin 19.9.2 driver.

Thanks in advance for any insight into this problem.

Stop being a Steph. >_>

Would you rather I be a smol Nezuko?

As far as I know tho, this is one of the games my system has trouble with.

I play Assassins Creed Odyssey and it doesn't crash.

Also hopped onto WoT and didn't get crashes.

Borderlands 3, occasional crashes, but it is a new game so it's understandable that optimization is poor. Normally runs for hours just fine.

I've been monitoring both thermals and load for my GPU and everything is stable. I'm from the Philippines so the climate is pretty hot here and the thermals under full load hold at around 80 celsius. If I turn up the fan curve aggressively so it cools, it will average around 70. However, using Global Wattman in itself is an issue as it causes crashes as well. So it's not the power draw or even gpu temps causing these crashes.

At this point I'm just starting to think it's just that the latest AMD drivers aren't working well with WoWS.

Check the python.log at your_wows_installation_dir\profile, open the file and scroll down and look for "ERROR". Start from there.
Try running the game at "Fullscreen-Windowed".

This piece of software has plenty of problems with its poorly written code. Uninstall all mods and try. If it still happens, lodge ticket. I doubt graphics card problem as it doesn't tax GPU or even CPU.

Thanks for this. I'll try it out.

Don't even have mods so definitely nothing on that end. Funny how I used to think WoWS was better optimized than WoT.

Turns out it isn't.

Pulled up the python.log for errors and got the following. There are others, but these are the most recent.

2019-10-01 15:59:09.261: ERROR: [Script] [DirectEventDispatcher] no handlers for event:, ('aircarrier.selectSquadron', 'with data:', (1L,)); (, 55302723683820, 124)

2019-10-01 15:59:20.659: ERROR: [Script] [AirPlanes] node HP_Deck_23 not found

This error here is weird tho...

2019-10-01 15:57:43.659: ERROR: [Scaleform] Error: Missing font "ZurichCond" in ".distance.label". Search log:
   Searching for font: "ZurichCond"
      Movie resource: "ZurichCond"  not found.
      Imports       : "ZurichCond"  not found.
      Exported      : "ZurichCond"  not found.
      Registered fonts: "ZurichCond" not found.
      Searching FontLib: "ZurichCond"  not found.
      Searching FontProvider: "ZurichCond"  not found.
   Font not found.

This last one was an error that happened before it caused my game to crash and needed a system reboot to fix.

If I'm reading that error correctly, am I literally crashing because of a missing font?

EDIT: Added my python.log so if anyone wants to take a look at it they can see the error history ever since I reinstalled the game.

Also, in my original post, I did not mention that I originally came from using an Nvidia GTX 1070. Although before installing my new AMD gpu, I did clean out the Nvidia drivers with DDU, looked up all the resources online to make sure my swap from Nvidia to AMD would be okay. Other games really do work fine, some crash occasionally, but not like WoWS where I expect it to happen at any given time while I'm running the game.

python.log

I have the same problem.

WoWS crashes, the screen blacks out and I have to restart.

My PC spec
CPU: AMD Ryzen3700,
GPU: MSI Radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB
Memory: 32GB

Perhaps ... WoWS misrecognizes the amount of VRAM.

Originally, the VRAM capacity should be 8GB.

But in wows_installation_dir \ preferences.xml, gpuMemory is 3072MB ...

`` `
<preferences.xml>
<graphicsPreferences>
<graphicsSettingsVersion> 1 </ graphicsSettingsVersion>
<graphicsSettingsVersionMinor> 0 </ graphicsSettingsVersionMinor>
<graphicsSettingsStatus> 3 </ graphicsSettingsStatus>
<detector>
<gpuMemory> 3072 </ gpuMemory>
<gpuScore> 100 </ gpuScore>
<ram> 32718 </ ram>
<virtualMemory> 4095 </ virtualMemory>
<cpuScore> 11520 </ cpuScore>
</ detector>
....
`` `

It is 4095 MB for WGCheck.

WGCheck.thumb.png.d6d546050f8cd828f08b7c64b0ac5617.png

WoWS crash when VRAM usage exceeds about 3GB

## Workaround

Reduce screen resolution and VRAM usage

Hi, RX 5700XT users.

I had the same problem, too.

Try to use Radeon Software 19.7.1. It makes WoWS stable in my PC.

Apparently, recent driver is bad for WoWS.

I'm sorry for my poor English.

OS:Windows 10 Pro
CPU:AMD Ryzen 5 1500X@3.5GHz
RAM:32GB
GPU:Asrock AMD Radeon RX 5700XT VRAM 8GB
