I currently game on a solid Dell UD27-11 monitor. A 27" IPS screen with 2560x1440P @ 60hz.

I have used this monitor with 3 complete gaming rigs since buying it new in 2011, and while it is still 100% serviceable, I am considering upgrading finally. My options are budget limited to under AU$800.

I am currently looking at a 32" 2560x1440 Samsung JG50 (144hz) for AU$500 and a MSI Optix MAG341CQ (100hz ultra wide) for AU$689. Both sold via PC Case Gear.

I would appreciate any advice from WOWS players regarding screen size pro's and con's. I don't have desk space for triple monitors - I also sim race, but that is a different topic. If I had the space etc, I would be getting 3 x 27" 1080P monitors for that.

For competitive gaming stay with the lower Screen size although Dell is known to have one of the highest response time and input lag. I dont know much about the 2 monitors you mentioned. Try to look for reviews on each type. Im using an Asus PG279Q and for me thats plenty in terms of screen space and high refresh rate and such. Depends on the games you play and usage if your into competitive gaming or visual quality to factor in on each of them monitors to get the best value and is suited for you.

I am sort of inclined to go the ultra wide screen option as most of the other games I play will benefit from the greater field of view. Does wows support ultra wide screens well?

One of the areas I am hoping to benefit from is aiming for the waterline while zoomed right in. Currently that isn't always possible due to obviously having to lead the target, which makes the accurate aiming a little harder having to zoom out again to actually see the target ship properly.

However, as my video card is only a GTX1080 (not Ti) I don't know if I will have to turn down settings to maintain FPS with the ultra wide (a lot more pixels to draw).
