https://forum.worldofwarships.com/topic/155270-all-modstation-1610/

I see a lot of screens shot and video's  with different "goodies" on the screen that appear to make things easier etc.

Anyone found this to be of value?

TBH I have no idea how you download the Aslain mods along with thing, or does it do it for you?

Modpacks can have SUPREMELY USEFUL mods. Camo filter, reduce ship texture for potato PCs, more visible this, improved that... Very useful.

I don't undestand the question at the end though. They are different modpacks though?

All mods are downloaded into the same folder, so if you use both modpacks, there will be conflict.

There are mods that provide valuable information in battle.

Examples:

  • Replace the ship icons on the left/right side with an alternative HUD that provides more meaningful information
  • Angle indicator can help you with switching shell types faster.
  • Score timer that lets you a better idea of the match's progress at a glance.

These are in modstation and should probably have been built into the game itself instead of getting modders to do it.

Tried modstation.. too many problems.

Scripted my own for the basic text changes, couple of zoom changes.

Use Aslains for the ones that require flash and frequent updating. Same mods as @Verytis

Ok so I understand, there is a modstation which can be downloaded. there is Aslains mod pack that can be downloaded... so you can only use one or the other?

so you can download certain sections from Aslains or any other Mod?  @keskparane  what problems occurred and would they affect my gaming experience?

I pretty much know where the on/ off button is, after that it goes into the 2 hard basket.

Not really. If the mods affect the same thing(s) (for example, Nagato's skin texture), they will simply overwrite each other. The modpacks are easy to use.

Just try it out. If you don't like it, just delete your res_mods folder in the game root folder.

In general Aslain modpack has more things. There are things Aslain modpack doesn't have, but the official modpack does.

Basically you have a list of game files and you also have a res_mods folder.

You can put files in the res_mods folder.

When the game starts it will check to see if res_mods has a version of any of the standard files. If it finds one it will use the one in res_mods instead of the default. This is how a mod is applied.

A modder will generally make sure that the mods they group together will know how to handle any of the changes any of their mods may make.

You can run into problems if 2 or more different mods decide to change a same setting unless they all make it the same value. That is why it is not recommended to run mods from 2 different sources unless you know exactly what they change.

I use ModStation and have no problems. I read somewhere it was "official", but have no idea if that actually is beneficial. But so far it works with no problems. The mods can add real competitive advantage, not sure why some of them are not built into the game client. It was very easy to install and pick mods you want, though some mod's descriptions are a bit lacking. May have to try a few to figure out which ones you like. Things I find useful

1. Ship icons that track health. If only more of my team had this and could realize when a flank is full of low health ships and we should push with an HP advantage and many of the opponents are in one shot territory

2. Game clock with Time to Win, so I know if I need to be aggressive or not

3. Nomo's dynamic aiming. After watching iChase's video on aiming last month, realized why the stock dynamic aiming was not helping me. It didn't take long but I'm landing a lot more long range shots and citadels with a correctly functioning dynamic aiming. The stock dynamic aiming really should be fixed.

4. Running lights, probably just me, but I sometimes find it difficult to track slow/stationary/reversing ships correctly, nice to have running lights confirm its status

One of the several must-have mods I always use.

Others include (from Aslain): HP bar on team display on top of the UI (to assess the teams' situation), extended ship carousel (hides completely other ships), shot timer (to know when your detection bloom goes back to normal).

Either it wants you to select your game folder directory or your current game server. I think it's the former.

There is some nice stuff to be had, just trying a few out.

Quite like the view of the ships that display what level of damage they have.

Also when aiming your mouse at a ship, it gives you data about main gun battery distances, torp distances etc. (My head does not remember any of this data)

The other one is the angle the ship you are aiming at is to you. the only thing is its a bit high on the screen and haven't yet found a way of moving it a bit lower.

There is a lot of different things to try out, and quite fun working through them.

Aren't there install options that let you choose between left, right, or centered?

.. Failing that I expect you need to open res_mods\[version]\alt_hud\navigator.xml and change the <navigator x="0" y="150"> x & y. Just mess with y= till you get it where you want it.

These are not dynamic so you will have to restart your client to test each change.

TBH any mod that adds new functions to the game shouldn't be allowed. Modding in WoWS should be limited to cosmetics-only.

You need to right click on navigator.xml and select edit. This will open it in notepad where you can change the value and then save it

Normally I would agree with you but WG isnt exactly fussy about things being fair and an even playing field in this game.
