Suggestions for my next tier 8

Hey guys, I now have a bit of credits issue so can not afford all. I have the following T8 researched but not purchased;

- Shokaku

- Mogami

- Amagi

- very soon also North Carolina and Lefantasque

which should I purchase first?

Amagi is an enjoyable BB to steer.

10 x 16" guns do a good job, and she can take a bit of punishment if angled well....

Mogami needs a special captain (IFHE on a IJN cruiser), so unless you can spec for that, delay it.

Amagi is the most fun I had in T8,  she can survive a lot of hits when angled well and plays nothing like that slug Nagato and that extra turret suddenly makes all the difference.

IJN Cruiser at high tier is a challenge ... really .. Amagi here too

Mogami doesnt necessarily need IFHE captain. First reason being it's 155mm instead of 152mm on other light cruisers, meaning it does pen 25mm already, and you can get the 203mm which isnt a bad option when you are just planning to grind past it fast. I grinded mogami with the 203mm (got it with free exp right away), you damage potential might not be as high, but it's a more comfortable option with the better firing angle it offers. It lets you to be more unpredictable when dodging shells while still returning fire, it's much more relaxing experience than timing your wiggle to fire full salvo with the 155mm. Also it got enhanced accuracy some patches ago.

I suggesting picking not by the T8 but the TX they lead to:

Hakuryu : 25500 APDB strike 

Zao: Meta no longer allows it to do what it excels be : stealthy alpha strike assassin , it can do long range HE slinging fine, but for that I think Henri and Hinden are better, and both of these are good at pushing when situation calls while Zao suffers in that usage. Combination of worst AA among TX cruisers and low HP pool and the reliance on stealth makes it suffers greatly in CV matches.

Yamato : Will always stay relevant  as long as 460mm overmatches 32mm armor.

Montana : Suffers more and more and more cruisers come with 30mm plating, but this line will teach you to be a proper good battleship captain.

To be honest I probably only played 1 or 2 CV games since a couple of patches ago. Does CV play better now?

in low tier,  CV is kind of GOD,you even don't lose planes, usually, this happened in tier 4 and 6, free farm and enjoy the game.

however, when the game comes to Tier 8 or higher, CV needs more skill to make sure you can keep a reasonable quantity of planes to use, more skill needed.

The CV is not that overpowered than before ( i mean 084-085) but still playable.

tips: support your allies in the early game such as spot DD, set FT, keep spotting other ships, let your team lead. Then in the late game, free dmg farming for you. 

 

Well... Should I say that CV play worse than before lul. CV used to be the real god ingame especially IJN cv, search some video such as 550k dmg Hakuyu on YouTube.

Yeah, I say go Amagi.

Not Only is it a decent ship itself, but It leads to Yamato.

Okay, As i prefer of choice, Get Amagi and  here some analyze about the *used to be the best of it's tier*

10 Guns 410mm with really decent accuracy at mid and short range and heavy alpha dmg 

Good at tanking with little of it superstructure if angle well ( ~around 45 degree for perfect bouncing moment )

Good speed and ruddle to out-run even some cruiser ( except those baguettes ) 

With design of it 2 turret front and 3 at back, you really perform as second line of defend and for kitting as well.

The ship didn't have much health but one thing it good at is the trollish armor with btw can actually consider same as German Turtle Back because of hard to hit at close range. 

Second best of IJN line got god like torp protection  ( after Yamato) 

It a perfect ship for your learning how to actually play a BBs. ( as second line of tanking and pushing at the right moment with really good speed )

Why i consider this ? Well, to be fair, Amagi is when i felt so OP after the FUso monster and really make me felt special with so much firepower in one package and you can really rushing all those broadside with eternity !!!!!!!

After that is up to you to to felt the meta and choose the second line to grind. I prefer the RN CA since it really really make your map awareness to maximum because if you make mistake, you will feel the dmg is lacking behind.

it was a well deserved nerf, CVs are still very strong even now after 4 straight patches of nerfs

I vote for Amagi. I never regret using that ship and It's a lot more forgiving than other tier 8s.
