Ate 5 torps from friendly Shima renter

I get how WG wants to promote ranked with rentable ships. Just in a game with 7 renters, and just told myself that at least I won't lose a star. Its annoying already seeing all the naked ship rentals out there. I won't let myself get too worked up over that. But I just ate 5 torps from my friendly Shima rental, almost as soon as his tubes were loaded. He was just off my stern when he fired. Please WG, the Shima is not the easiest ship to master, especially i have you have no IJN torp experience.

A few suggestions

1. You can only rent ships in lines you have worked

2. If you turn pink in a DD, you can't rent that ship again for a couple of games. You turn pink again in said ship, and you can't rent it anymore at all for the season.

Though if you want to promote ranked for the masses, I really enjoyed T8 and T9 ranked...

This might explain it. Very many renters are, to put it nicely, novice tiers. Like this one I got to play in my latest game. And there were 3 of them in my team!  Notice that they have not played a single T9-T10 before.

Wargaming should have considered a system that distributes less experienced among other games. They really are a burden to Ranking, which by itself is already challenging.

I've been playing WoWS for around 1 1/2 years and this was the first time I had a go a Ranked, and what a cesspool of rude and delusional entitled 'A' holes who mostly play that. I've worked my way into tier 9, with Lion being my primary ship, so I decided to finally jump in the rental Conqueror (added all the upgrades, flags and my top captain etc.) and have a go. I ended up playing 10 matches, right at the start of the season (so no cry babies could try to blame me for missing their top rank etc.). My first match was probably my most memorable for the abuse I copped; I went in support of a team push and while I was raining hell down on a enemy Yama I didn't instantly notice that my team had lost their balls and had started retreating faster than a group of French soldiers. In a slower BB I quickly found myself at the tail of this collective retreat and thus the subject of considerable enemy fire and the screams of abuse from some on the team calling me a "f_ing Conq noob" and other similar crap as I got HE spammed to death (which actually allowed the others to escape effectively untouched). We still won that match but I saw that just being in a rental ship you instantly become the convenient scapegoat for anything that goes wrong. In my 10 Ranked matches I saw plenty of non-rental players make huge mistakes, sometimes that ended up costing us matches, none of them got the kind of abuse I got in that first match in a rental ship.

But yes I can see the rental system is flawed. I think you should only be able to unlock the rental ships using tech-line ships not Premium ships (stops some brand new player buying a T8 ship and then go straight into Ranked). Also they should either have some type of skill based matchmaking in Ranked and/or have it that the rental period on these ships expires half way through the ranked season so lower level players can still get a chance to experience Ranked but the second half of the season is only for the hardcore Ranked players.

I never play rank

but I can immediately imagine how intense/fierce battle and toxicity it could be ever since season 1

so... I won't set foot in there. =w='a

The rentals issue can be fixed with two simple changes:

  • Allow rental ships to equip camos.
  • Remove the brackets from around the rental ships name.

There you go, no more complaining about rentals...

Then we can go back to complaining about MM, potato players and the star system like usual.

Good idea.

Here my thoughts on acquiring rental ships

Either you own a T10 and play a battle in a t10 ship or have a X(maybe 2000++) number of battles then the mission will be activated

I am Ok with the overall rental , the concept, what I am not really particularly agree is how its implemented as far as what get rented .. in previous season its like any T8 ship played and you got all the rental ships, this season its actually for Dd you had to plat T8 DD to get the rental DD, and T8 cruiser for rental cruiser and like for BB .. what it did not take into account is that does not mean the player can easily adopt in such short time frame to a new T10 ship which might not be of the same tech line .. instead I think the rental system should include all T10 ships ( OK I am not sure if CV should be, I would say no but let's be fair for now ) and the condition should be a T8 victory ( and only victory ) in any ships, which will get the rental of that Tech line's ( nation, and class ) T10 ship , so one who play say T8 IJN Kagero and sail it to victory will reward rental of T10 Shima .. and if one want to get the T10 Grozovoi, one need to had a victory in the T8 Ognevoi and applied likewise ... this will ensure anyone intending to play a rental at the very least had a proven experienced lineage in that rental ship's line

As far as camou goes, I think they should be allowed the 3 basic Type 1, Type 2 and Type 5 but not others , and as for signals, they should be restricted to the Combat category and disallowed the economy and specials

I guess you didn’t complain about renters on the enemy team, which were easy kills?
