How I gave up and learned to love CVs. (0.8.4 edition)

I have some good news. My win rate seems to have recovered back to its pre-rework level of awesomeness. I took my week of absence away from the game c. 0.8.2, and have been playing fairly low key since then - even now mostly sticking to T5-7 - but day-by-day things seem to be constantly improving.

WoWS is a very different game today than it was in January. I would be lying if I said I thought it was better, or that there weren't still balancing issues to address re. spotting and concealment, but I no longer feel it is the fright-fest of random air-assault obliteration that it was around c. 0.8.1. The mid-tier IJN heavy cruisers, Furutaka, Aoba, and Myoko are back to being solid choices, and torp-boat DDs once again have a place in the game.

There are fewer CVs in the queue, and lower proportion of unicum CVs. No CV games are getting semi-common again, to the point where I'm on the verge of considering re-equipping Hydro again over DFAA. (haha, joke... but only just)

Random battles are swimming in clueless Russian BBs, so it's a good time to invest in DE and 10 km torps.

And currently there are very few DDs in queue, and hardly any of them are better than hopeless. Which means there has never been a better time to play DD: as an experienced DD player and most likely the only DD on your roster, you are your team's golden ticket. Recently I've been getting a lot more respect/protection during games as a result of people actually taking notice of this fact.

Mm mm, things are looking up. Maybe, just maybe, I'll start playing T8 again...

I know a guy named Paladinum. He plays mostly cruisers and had played reworked CVs. He thinks it's sh*tty and tiresome, almost like playing other ship types in the game. So he never plays reworked CVs again. And now he plays indifference of CV presence.

Be like Paladinum, learn Indifference ^TM.

I don't see the low CV games or NO CV games as remotely common, the main issue was to many planes in the air at once, forgetting the absolute joke the early rework was. Which CV was it that Notser showed spamming torp drop after drop after drop LOL they really tested that baby hehe, and CV players liked it :) Of course, nothing wrong here. 

I just took several days off and just came back, every game T9 and below has been 4 CV, granted they're T8 when I'm T9, every game bar 1 at T10 has been 2 CV. Since rework I've now had 3 games without a CV, every other game as stated. I've tried as low as T6 and its the same, 4 CV's.

Everyone is diff though, more power to you if you're getting less CV's, luck of the draw I guess. The fact that people will talk about being grateful for less CV matches shows just how great they are to have in game :) The comments during the no CV games were vastly amusing though :) They are a truly blessed class of ship, beloved by all... :)

This has been my experience in the past few weeks and months.

I have been seeing pretty solid games in my DDs, that's why I am sceptical of those claiming that DDs can't do well in this current meta.

My clan discord feedback is similar. Sure, there are the occasional bitching about CV but in general, it appears to be a combination of how skilled the players on either side are and their ability to situationally adapt. Yes, people have to work harder to play but who doesn't if they want to win?

Indifferent will be the T9. T7 is HMS Apathetic and T5 is HMS Ignorant. 

 

Almost forgot, T9 RN DD for Steel will be HMS Nihilist, member of Existentialist-class.
