4 SGTAWE Beta Tester 59 posts 2,006 battles Report post #1 Posted May 18, 2019 Hi As most of you suggested, i have started playing cvs to learn about them . However is it normal for a ranger to be in a T8 game 70% of the time 😛 How do you cv pros handle the uptier AA ? Atm i feel very guilty because the cruisers' dangerous AA forces me to bomb my DD comrades. Only talking about uptier matches. Same tier is fine

Same tier is fine For CV, up tier is always tough, just like any other class you will need to know each ships strength. I have installed mod that show AA value of each ship. Once you have that information, you have to pay attention on where are high AA ship locations. You avoid them at the beginning and look for those low AA ship to attack. T6 CV do not have heal yet, so you only tool to mitigate damage are speed boost and target/flight path selection.

Same tier is fine play on prime time if you can, that's the best way to not get into T8 games , but if you cant, try to go for targets in this order TBs-:4-6BB >T7-8BB >T6-8CA>T4-6CLs>T6-8CLs>>>>DDs of any tier>>>>>>CVs DBs depending on what line you are playing, if you are playing IJN , then stop and switch to USN or RN as for target selections for USN , TBs-:4-6BB >T7-8BB >T6-8CA> DDs of any tier>T4-6CLs>T6-8CLs>>>>>>>>>>CVs and RN TBs-:4-6BB >T7-8BB >T6-8CA>T4-6CLs>T6-8CLs >DDs of any tier>>>>>>>>>>>CVs Rocket planes: DDs of anytier>>>> BBs that recently repaired>low AA CLs>CAs>healthy BBs this is only for T6, things change if you get TITs on USD
4 SGTAWE Beta Tester 59 posts 2,006 battles Report post #4 Posted May 19, 2019 What decides whether a torpedo spread will be wide or thin in cvs ? and I seem to randomly get citadels while using my DBs but have no idea where i should aim for them. Any tips ? Also i dont like to face Clevelands every other match. Any chance of the matchmaking being fixed?

This one you will have to live with it as wg thinks it is low priority. quote "+/-1 MM ruins queues" unquote.

Any tips ? Also i dont like to face Clevelands every other match. Any chance of the matchmaking being fixed? Torpedo spread will narrow down the longer you aim , however , you should not always go for full narrow aim ( RN and IJN CV can get converging drop at max range ), instead you may want spread out drops to maximize hit chance. This is especially true when targeting long ship where a narrow spread may miss entirely due to their timely turn. You usually want somewhere halfway of aiming at various distance. Too far , go for wide , too near and go for narrow. High learning curve. If your torp bomber can survive for 2 shots , intentionally force him to turn first , then you can pound him once he has turned. Dive bomber get highest penetration when they are pointing their plane nearly 90 degree for the drop and go lower if you miss the sweet point. So drop high on BB to citadel them while wait a bit longer to citadel lightly armoured cruisers. A lot of practice is needed to get the right distance for penetration adjustment and target leading. You can mitigate losses by using slingshot techniques ( again high learning curve ) to get the drop on camping cruiser who is otherwise immune to CV. Lower tier CV should always go for low tier BB and DD in +2 match up. Anything +2 will shred their planes. Your goal is to have enough reserves to go dry and pick off stragglers late game.

Any tips ? Also i dont like to face Clevelands every other match. Any chance of the matchmaking being fixed? i see that you are playing RJ... citadels from RJ usually comes from CA/CLs of basically any tier, some lower tier BBs can be citadeled too but as a rule of thumb just go for CA/CLs the factor of deciding how wide the torp spread is how much you move from your original angle of attack when in the process of diving for a attack, if you do no change your course during the dive then the spread will get thin to a maximum point, at which point it will be at it's thinnest no one like meeting clevelands that much in a low tier CV, you gt T6/7 matches most of the time so it's not really that big of a issue, if you do meet a cleveland... just go around it
