Another T9 cruiser entered my fleet - Paper ship Seattle

Another cruiser, another important (?) addition to my fleet. Paper in design, paper in protection. At the same time this ship is more paper AND less paper than Neptune.

6.9 km maximum AA range, same as Neptune. Meanwhile Salem and Alaska share 5.8 km, and Hindenburg has an astounding 5.2 km. Wat.

Even buying at a discount, I'm broke now :cap_like:

The camo is my modded Ocean Soul, or known in-game file as "Dazzle_tile_camo_06". The other side looks better, but no lighting there.

Do you think that the original Ocean Soul is really, really boring to look at? It has 20 repeated horizontal stripes and TWO colors! TWO!!! Mind = blown! :fish_boom:

And so begins the journey through crap. The road to Worcester will be long and filled with REEEEEEE

As for the camo, it feels like the creator drew 2 random lines and then copy pasted it until he/she ran out of ship. Me having a hard time being GUSTA

Seattle was my only ship I FXP'ed out of.   In reality its not that its a bad ship , but I think weegee intentionally make them too mediocre for that long and painful grind.

The laziest camo in the game. It's not even "dazzle" ffs.

Worcester is a nice ship, but there are lines that I prefer the T9 than the T10.

I free xp'd out of Colorado and Queen E. Does that make me a bad player? :Smile_hiding:

Nah, just lazy.

I think the only ships I FXPed out of were Old Baltimore and Izumo.

Colorado frustrated the **** outta be with her 21 knots at T7. I don't remember why I free xp'd Queen E, probably because I just wanted KGV.

And then I got to Monarch and got the DoY and realized KGV must not be a T7 ship.

Actually, now that I think of it, I've only played Colorado in operations. But yeah, in a random the slow speed would be painful.

I am about halfway through the Seattle grind.

She has been a pretty bipolar ship for me. Sometimes I do very well in her, other times not so much.

Tbh, this is what I am feeling right now with my Dimitri Donskoi. I took advantage of the free captain respec and reset my Soviet Captain without IFHE to prepare for Moskva. But oh boy was that a mistake. Now my shells break like they are made of glass  It was already a Devastating Strike circus when I would be in tier 10 matches but at least I came out doing 70k damage before it happened. Now I am lucky if I even break 30k. I miss my Chapy =(

Captain, in my next "Let not talk about CVs" thread I want to talk about Robert H. Smith-class minelayer DD. Gearing/Sumner without torps made to sink subs. Depends on the stats and consumables, that ship can be any tier from 6 to 10.

"Destroyer" as a ship type is short for "torpedo boat destroyer" so a DD without torps is super... strange.

I thought that the "Torpedo Boat Destroyer" was actually a ship made to hunt and destroy Torpedo Boats. I.e. small, fast ships, armed with torpedos, they were built as a cheap ship to counter the large ironclads. They are in game in operation dynamo. Destroyers were basically designed in order to counter Torpedo Boats.

So, probably not that unusual for a destroyer to not have torpedos, in real life. In game it would be weird... I expect that WG will release an ALL GUN DD line eventually when they run out of flavours.

Expect that in 2040 or something lol (then after that, WeeGee will ask players to design ships for them, I'm in for that sh*t)

Right now they need to make an Italian cruiser line.

And you'd be right.

Also the reason why torpedo boat destroyers usually carried torps is that the initial DDs were essentially larger torpedo boats designed to destroy other torpedo boats, in addition to bigger vessels.

Japanese Kaiboukan when? :Smile_trollface:

In all serious, that would be interesting. DDs such as the Kidd and Cossack are kinda like that.

Is it weird if I claim that Colorado is a much better ship than NC? The only drawback was the sluggish speed, otherwise, it felt fairly strong in most situations and those guns are hard hitting! Unlike NC (which is forced to hide its sides at all times), Colorado can actually dodge a lot of shells if angled at...say.. 45 degrees?

Tier 1 of the PA line :Smile_hiding:

But the Robert H. Smith doesn't even have torps. Kidd and Cossack carry good torps that can be used rather aggressively, albeit limitedly. Kapparoast has a set of 10 torps that can be used when it's super super dire. If anything, I'd say the class is more slow-speed durable escort than front-line aggressor.

Torpedos are basically a DDs attack against larger ships.

Look at the PA ships, can’t torpedo DDs. When going up against DDs you have to treat them like a full gunboat. Or lower tier USSR with 4km range, again, more gunboat that torpedo boat.

Ive got all the freemiums and coal ships but the latest lot (Alaska, Salem, Izumo) offer nothing new and are pretty boring ships.  The JB is a really good ship.  That was my last one and why I have a lot of resources sitting there doing nothing at the moment.

Are you sure about that... :Smile_trollface:

@Grygus_Triss @Thyaliad care to share your captain skills, upgrades, signal flags and opinions of the ship in the thread? Ya know, the Seattle? Thanks a ton, captains.

IMO QE was such a bad ship. I'd rather play NM than that piece of rubbish. Slow speed, slow guns, pathetic armor. What else?

That perfectly describes what Yamato is. QE's guns can overmatch all T6 and some T7 BB's bow armor. But yeah Warspite is surely better with faster turret traverse, and DD-like turning radius (550m).
